COVID CESSPOOL! DO NOT ENTER IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH!
Two customers standing behind us in checkout. One not wearing a mask; the other with mask under nostrils. We asked them to socially distance and pull up/put on their masks. They refused and became verbally abusive. We asked for a manager. After many minutes an employee came up from the back and asked the women to properly wear masks. THEY REFUSED! The employee told us that they could not force the women to wear masks. I left the store, leaving my wife in line.
I called the Howard County Health Department. They advised that calling the non-emergency police number for the county should have been done. After the fact, no report can be filed. The Howard County Health Department advised that I call Michaels Corporate Office today.
A very nice woman called me back and told me that they could do nothing to enforce the mandate but that employees are stationed to advise and hand out masks. None of this was happening in the store. NONE OF THIS IS GOOD ENOUGH! The women should have been told to leave the store.
The Howard County Health Department is aggressive in enforcing the mandate and have closed other retail stores in Howard County for violations.
I will NEVER go into a Michaels again and will take this as far as I can. In the meantime, no matter how important decorating your door, lawn or tree is to you, order online from a company that supports...
Read moreI really like Michael's selection of specific items, but this particular store I think needs an overhaul. While the staff is often friendly and accommodating, the store itself is just old and feels like it. The racks are old and many places they're uneven or unseated, there's grime in every corner, and the lighting isn't great so there are lots of dark corners.
The other large problem is the amount of time it takes to checkout. While checkout time at craft stores always takes a little extra time, Michael's will frequently leave you in line for twenty minutes or more, even if you are the only person in line and there are three cashiers available.
I feel that the corporate side of Michael's isn't giving this store the tools it needs to succeed. The store needs a remodel and the checkout procedure needs less time consuming junk to sift through. I can tell cashiers are doing their best, and that department staff are working hard to keep items stocked and shelves full, but in a dimly lit store with cramped aisles and a tedious checkout process, I can't say I get excited about shopping here. With a hobby lobby in the same shopping center and a JoAnn's down the street, corporate should seriously consider it's game plan...
Read moreI could not find any staff to help me find a particular item I was searching for. I decided not to keep looking after a while and purchased some other craft supplies.
I am very sure I had the same female cashier others have complained about. She was an older-middle aged Caucasian with a short haircut. She was EXTREMELY unfriendly. I asked her about the items I was previously searching for. Very rude tone and I had to be extremely specific about the items I was looking for to get a straight answer from her (I was asking when Christmas items would be out and I had to ask the same question different ways to get an answer.) I was purchasing items on sale. They did not ring up as so and I informed her. She seemed very annoyed. I apologized for holding up the line. SILENCE. She only blankly stared at me. I would like to think I'm a friendly person. I usually frequent the Michaels in Hanover and always have a brief friendly conversation with the cashiers at that location but this was on my way home. I don't think I will be stopping at this...
