I picked up a rental the day before my wedding for wedding transport and honeymoon trip. The SUV I rented began shaking as soon as I got on the highway. We made it through the wedding and called the following morning to report and exchange vehicles and was told by the woman working that day she really didn't think she could do anything , and to check the airport. I asked her if she could do that and let me know. Reluctantly she agreed and called back to say she could have another SUV around 1pm . We told her we would be there. 1:07 pm we arrive at the location and she was very agitated and said that we were late. She had a nasty attitude and acted as if we were a big inconvenience to her. As my husband went down the street and put gas in the first vehicle this woman told me I should rethink my marriage. Handed me the keys to the new rental , put me out in the rain and locked the door and left without checking the first SUV. We move our stuff into the second SUV , intending on leaving directly out on our honeymoon and immediately noticed the second SUV pulling violently to the right. From there we drove directly to the airport hoping for better help at the Budget location there. We did finally get a safe rental. At this time we missed a whole day of travel and lost out on the first day of our hotel as well as time money for hotel and gas. We did call and make a report to customer service who said they would give us 30$ credit and told up to speak with the original office we initiated the rental at when we return.. We returned from our trip and returned the third rental to the same rude woman that we had encountered told me there wasn't anything she could do and to call customer service. After wasting another hour on the phone with customer service , they basically said she lied. Read moreI set up a 10 day rental for a minivan at the Avis location in Upper Arlington for a family vacation and the type of vehicle ordered was important. I have had issues in the past about not getting the vehicle reserved and not a suitable substitute so I followed up with Avis a time or two. They assured me it would not be a problem and it was not. At pick up and return, the staff at this location was excellent. I picked up at 5:30 when the office closed at 6 and the person was still helpful, friendly, and more than willing to answer questions and let me look at multiple vehicles to pick which I wanted. I returned at 9:00 right when the office opened, and the person opened the office and processed my return just after he arrive at 8:45ish, despite the fact that he came in with what I assumed to be breakfast and coffee. I would have understood if he wanted to take 10 minutes to eat and enjoy his coffee, but he did not and I definitely appreciated it. He even checked to make sure my ride was coming when he noticed me still outside after a while. My ride was planning to get there a little after 9, a little before. Overall, if you need to rent a car, Avis as a whole is just as good as any other National chain, but this location and it’s staff sets it apart as better than the rest. I was in a hurry to get to the hospital and left the airport in a Budget/Avis rental which I realized only en route had a low tire pressure light on and a big "maintenance needed" message in the middle of the dash. To top it off, the gas tank was at 3/4 full when my rental papers said it was "full". After I visited, it was late on a Saturday night and after a long permahold with Budget road side assistance, was told my car was "driveable", so I would need to return to the airport. I didn't want to risk a flat on a busy highway in the dark, so I waited until morning and called the local Upper Arlington/OSU Avis/Budget office. I got Denise and she couldn't have been more helpful or understanding! It was only a few miles away, but she had a new car ready for me to switch out and didn't give me any hassles about the tank not being full (I had only driven 15 miles or so!).
