I've been going into the DK Diner for several years now and it's not constant it's not every week but it might be every couple months.
One of the first things that I had to learn and it was difficult that very first time was the beverage area. Self Serve beverage area. Now that is one of those exciting things that just seems to make it so real; it makes it seem like I'm in my mom's kitchen.
I don't know where they find these servers and employees but it's almost like they create them from this perfect world. They are so attentive and they are so good in that environment.
You definitely cannot go wrong with the prices and it's homemade food.
Then there are the biscuits, the biscuits, the biscuits, the biscuits, the biscuits. Just ask a server about these homemade biscuits. If you've ever lived or traveled in the South and you know what a true Southern biscuit is like these are definitely definitely perfect southern biscuits homemade everyday.
Donuts donuts donuts people drive from all over the city to DK Diner just for these Donuts. Who cares about price of a donut when they are that fresh daily and so perfect.
Parking. Some people might not like the idea that they have to park in the neighborhood streets but why should that ever be of concern. I sorta like it, you get to see these beautiful Grandview homes. I imagine that all of those homeowners are so used to this accepting crowd driving in and out of their neighborhood that they don't care.
The patio is so sweet. It is cool area even though you're right there by their in-house parking but who cares you don't even realize it's their. Their patio is small and sweet and intimate and it's really cool.
The I think in every restaurant that you visit, other than those corporate places, you need to go to the bathroom so you definitely need to go to the bathroom at DK Diner.
Go to DK Diner if you eating alone and sit at the bar that's a cool place to sit whether you're with people or not sit at the bar.
You'll never go wrong at any time that they are open...
Read moreI've been wanting to try this place for quite a while. Each time I visited, the wait was extremely long, so I left. My wife and I had the chance to visit on a weekday morning just around 9am. It was still busy, but there were a couple of open seats outside, so I decided to take the chance. It was dreary and lightly raining outside. We walked in the front tent door, following the signs to enter. There was another sign inside that directed you to go the register to be seated. Once at the register, there is a sign above it that directed you to seat yourself. We walked over to an open booth and started to sit down. An employee came up to us and asked if we had received a text that a booth was ready. I said no, we just followed the signs and explained what each one stated. She said something about the signs being used for the weekend, which I didn't understand, and said there were seats outside. So we went back outside in the tent area and was seated at a small table. We were told we could go back inside to get our drinks and were given menus. The tent area was fairly warm and mostly dry, with the exception of some water on the ground since it was raining after all. My wife and I tried having a conversation but ended up having to almost yell to hear each other. It was very loud in the tent area with horrible acoustics. It wasn't much better inside. On the inside, there were people and staff everywhere, and it was hard to just move around, much less make it to the drink area. We decided to leave and find somewhere else for breakfast. I was very disappointed after reading all the good reviews and pictures of the food. Overall, the staff were too busy to be overly friendly, but they were cordial. The layout is confusing, and it seems they try to squeeze too many people into such a small space. Obviously, others were enjoying themselves, and there were people waiting to go inside. Maybe they are worth another try on another weekday that isn't so busy, as it seems from other reviews that the weekend...
Read moreI want to start this review by saying I love DK Diner and recommend eating here and most of the interactions I've had with staff are very positive. However, my most recent experience was pretty negative. The food was good, as usual, but our server was not. Someone in our party went and sat at our table after being on the wait list and the rest of us (only a party of 3 in total) joined him about five minutes later. While he was waiting for us, our server asked twice if we were coming in an accusatory tone and was just not friendly at all. As a server, I understand it can be annoying to wait for the rest of a party but it was literally only five minutes and he had ordered waters and got coffee while waiting. Once we arrived, she did not come back to the table for over ten minutes but was greeting and taking the orders of tables that arrived after us. When she finally came to our table I ordered a cocktail and she said to me in an extremely rude tone, "you know that has alcohol in it, right?". Obviously I know and at first I thought she meant she needed to see my ID but then she never checked it. I know I wasn't blowing this out of proportion because the rest of my table said the way she talked down to me made them extremely uncomfortable. She was generally rude the whole time we were there, especially to me for some reason, and only brought one of drinks, which didn't even arrive until the same time as our food. Even though we felt bad, we had to ask a different worker for something because she did not visit our table until it was time for our check. We all usually tip AT LEAST 30%, so she really missed out by treating...
