Martha's Sew It All — Local services in Concord

BEWARE! I live in Minneapolis but work on a project in Concord, NH. When my daughter, who was getting married in Maine, needed to have her wedding dress altered, a co-worker recommended Sew It All. My daughter drove up from Massachusetts and I met her in Concord with the wedding dress. At the initial fitting, I was taken back by how incredibly rude Martha was. When we arrived, on time, we were totally ignored. I should have trusted my gut instincts. Martha charged us 600.00 the day of the initial fitting, and scheduled a final fitting one month later (5 weeks before the wedding.) The day of the final fitting, again, my daughter and I made arrangements to meet in Concord. Again, we arrived and were totally ignored. When finally, Martha decided to help us, she told us our appointment was the following day and that nothing had been done on the dress. Both my daughter and I had the appointment on our calendars on the day we arrived, Martha had the following day scribbled over another date and she had ALL of our contact information wrong. When I asked to see the dress, Martha said no. When I asked if the dress had just been hanging there for a month with nothing done to it, Martha replied, "Pretty Much." When we told Martha we couldn't come back the next day because we both lived out of State, she said come back in three hours. Completely dumfounded, my daughter and I left but neither of us felt good about the situation. After a short talk, we decided to go back and get the dress, and find another professional to make the alterations. My daughter, who was incredibly upset, stayed in the car while I went in to get the dress. When I explained we were uncomfortable with the situation and wanted the dress back, Martha would not give it to me. I repeatedly asked for the dress. Only after I agreed that she could keep the 600.00 did I get the dress back. After we got the dress back, Martha sent harassing text messages to my daughter for days. Luckily we found another alternations professional who completed the minor alterations in one week, and charged us 500.00. When all was said and done, we paid 1,100.00 for minor alterations on a 2,000.00 wedding dress. HUGE...

My daughter and I needed alterations to the MOB dress and wedding dress. This was the absolute worst experience for myself and my daughter. Staff was not friendly at all. We had to come back several times because work was not done when we came for an appointment. There was never an apology or acknowledgement for the errors or inconvenience it caused. I was quoted on the alterations of my dress during my first fitting, which was a dress hem and slightly taking in. When I came for the second appt. The dress was hemmed but was not taken in. The dress was still all pinned down the whole back. I had to ask why there was still pins in the dress. The work was not done and I was charged more than the original quote to have it taken in. As for the wedding dress. We had to go for three extra appointments due to the work not being done. In the end the dress was hemmed incorrectly, uneven, and to short with only a few days before the wedding left due to the extra appointments. There was no willingness to work more on the dress or to provide a credit. In the end, I ended up fixing the alterations on my daughters dress. I would not recommend this business to anyone! Would not recommend. I spoke with a nice woman on the phone at Martha's and scheduled an appointment for alterations. I arrived to my appointment at scheduled day and time (also during her advertised hours of operation) to find the lights off and door locked. I hung around a bit thinking maybe she was running late but no one showed. No call to cancel. I tried reaching her on my phone while in the parking lot...no success.

I asked for the 5th being that the 4th was my birthday and we both chuckled. She confirmed my appointment for Jan 5 at 3:30, telling me to bring my dress, shoes and undergarments. When I arrived, door was locked, lights were off. I went to the restaurant next door to ask if the owner typically comes and goes being that the hours on the door clearly showed a 10:00 opening but they said they didn't know and to call the number posted.
