I'll never go back! Brought in a brand new ring I got as a gift to be resized, Greg went into great detail how he would add gold to increase size. Upon picking up, I thought it looked thinner like it had been stretched or hammered. My daughter who gave me the ring agrees that the ring looks thinner. When I picked it up, he wanted me to leave it, as he said he wanted me happy and would add a piece of gold. I wanted to wear it on vacation before he did add more gold. He contacted me multiple times to bring it in. When I did come in after vacation he refused to do anything, saying why should he have to spend money out of his pocket. I paid $435 ahead of time for a job that he said he would add gold and I would never notice any difference. Well, I do notice a difference, Its thinner! When I asked if he weighed how much gold he added, he said no. Update: Literally within minutes of leaving this post, Gregg called me and asked me to come back so he could make it right with me. I left the ring with him again and when I picked it up, it was how I expected it to look = fit perfectly and look like nothing had been done with the same thickness around the ring. So, eventually he did make things right. I don't think I will be going back. Update #2: In reply to your response, I don't want to get into an argument with you, but you are not being complete with your description of what happened. 1st = You only sent me a screenshot of my ring on a jewelers tapered tool that shows the ring size. 2nd = You keep saying the ring was 3.5mm wide, before and after, but I complained about the thickness, not the width. 3rd = You never showed me in person or sent a screenshot of my ring before you worked on it, being measured by micrometer with 2 measurements, both width and thickness. (thickness = which is what I was so upset about - how it looked thinner before I even touched it after your work.) 4th = Since you like to quote Google, I looked up the cost to resize a gold ring from Size 7 to 8. Google says $20 to $150 depending on the complexity. OK, so another $100-$150 for complexity, I paid you $430 before you touched the ring without batting an eye, for what? This is a Fathers Ring, that was a Fathers Day gift from my 3 children representing my 8 grandchildren with a stone for each in order of birth, this is the best gift that I have ever received. The first thing I noticed when my kids gave me the ring was how thick it was and how heavy it was, and when I went to your shop to pick it up, I was heartbroken to notice it was much thinner than before. You went into great detail on how you would cut the ring and insert a piece of gold and I would never notice. I was so upset at that moment, and I felt very uncomfortable in your shop. You know that I was visibly upset and kept asking if I was "happy", I should have at that moment, said something, but took my ring and said I was happy just to get out.

Read moreI dropped by to see Greg Mezzapelle the owner of The Jewelers Workbench, at his shop. My favorite Seiko Automatic Divers watch was no longer working. The watch means a lot to me considering what experiences I have had while wearing it. I had tried to get the watch serviced at another shop in the area. It seemed that the staff person there just wanted to sell me a new watch. I figured I was the customer why should I be required to do what she wanted; which translated into her just taking my money! My experience with Greg was so much more positive! Greg said it may take a couple of weeks but he would get the watch fixed. Two weeks later, Greg called to tell me my watch was fixed. I'm really glad he heard me, understood what I wanted and delivered on his word. The watch works great! If needed, I would confidently take any of my watches to Greg for service. On top of watches, he has been in the jewelry business for over thirty years and is a Graduate Gemologist. Greg's skills, knowledge and professionalism showed in my interactions with him! I recommend that everyone needing a watch serviced or anything involving jewelry...
Read moreI had a watch whose band needed to be resized. I work in healthcare and have very minimal time to run errands and, in calling around to places within the area for my request, I was referred to the Jewelers Workbench.
I simply walked up to the counter and inquired about having links removed from my band. I was prepared to drop it off and return later but Gregg offered to do it on the spot. I was happy to learn that he doesn't just do watches - he can do everything other jewelry stores can do and, because his business is personal - his turnaround times and services are likely better and quicker than the big box stores. (Clearly evidenced by his ability to literally resize my watch in 3 minutes!)
I will certainly be back and think of him first for any future repairs and needs and would highly recommend that you do the same. In a time when our economy is uncertain and disrupted by closures and mandates, you can feel good about giving him your business, as he will certainly do it better than any corporate chain. I thank him very much for his kindness, information, and willingness to make sure I was happy...
