Stone Cold Meats — Local services in Conroe

Update of my previous review from a month ago (left below this): Stone Cold Meats - Wow! We just had the greatest piece of beef we've ever had, thanks to Stone Cold Meats. For my birthday I asked for a Prime rib roast. The buying experience at the store (in Conroe) was so much better than HEB that it's almost not a fair fight. The butcher was super friendly, listened closely to what I wanted, and gave me multiple choices. He brought out two entire rib racks, trimmed them down in front of us, and gave us a choice of which one, and which end. After enduring the barely helpful union butchers at HEB, this was like a breath of fresh air. The piece we chose was exactly what we wanted, and when it was finally time to eat we were blown away. The texture and the flavor of the meat was better than anything we've ever had, comparable only to the finest steakhouses like Vic & Anthony's or Pappas Brothers. It was amazing. See the last two pictures, below. To say that SCM will be our butchers from now on is an understatement. For a little extra you not only get better meat than HEB could hope to provide, you get a truly fun and engaging shopping experience. Last Review (October 2024) This is my favorite new store of any kind in the entire county. The assortment and quality of meats is amazing, but I most appreciated the owner's knowledge and enthusiasm, and especially his willingness to spend time discussing his various products and his favorite way to cook them. We've been back several times since our first visit last week and their mild Italian sausage that we cooked this week (with peppers and onions) was truly outstanding. As much as it pains me to give stone cold meats, a bad review, unfortunately, I have to give one on their customer service. Their meats are absolutely fantastic! Generally the customer service is really good. I was I was given a gift card for my birthday that was purchased at the Cypress location but when I tried to use it at the Conroe location, they told me their is an issue with their POS system that doesn’t support gift cards bought from other locations and they are working on getting it fixed. I went ahead and paid, while my credit card was being run a gentleman I’m assuming was a manager said oh there’s a way we can use the gift card. I told him no worries. I’d use it the next time I came back. I purposely waited a couple of months to try and use the gift card hoping the issue with the POS system was fixed. Unfortunately I still can’t use the gift card that was purchased at the Cypress location in Conroe. With today’s technology is absolutely ridiculous that you can’t use a gift card bought from one location at a different location. I am so disappointed in this place. I work until 5 in tomball, rushed to get here before they closed to make beef caldo for my family and was told they had cleaned their saw and could not cut any beef shanks or rib for me. I promoted this business to my family and friends. To rush here while they are still open and not be given some consideration as a loyal customer. Bad business. Maybe if I was a politician or wealthy person in town they would have considered me, but im just a working mom trying to make soup for my children coming into town tonight. This treatment is what is wrong with the world right now. I'll find another place that values their customers. The associate I spoke with had zero compassion, even after me explaining i would have been there earlier if I could have and I was making a special meal for my family and went out of my way home after a long workday to come...
