The Modern Skein — Local services in Conroe

I ordered a combo set from the Modern Skein during the COVID-19 closure for a KAL. The shop owner gave her customers her cell phone number to place orders. I had not ordered anything from the shop before, but this color combo was gorgeous. The parcel was supposed to be delivered by USPS a couple of days after I ordered it. Five days later the package still hadn't come. When I tracked the package, the post office had sent it to a different City entirely. I checked the address and both the Owner and myself had entered and addressed the package correctly. She and I texted over the next five days to try and locate the package. We both filed claims for the package. The post office called her and claimed to have found the package and told her they would deliver it within a few days. Its been more than a few days, and it still hasn't arrived. So the owner has resent me a new package via UPS. She has profusely apologized, which wasn't necessary. So here we are in the middle of a pandemic. You have a small business owner who has given her personal cell number to her customers, let alone ones who haven't ordered from her before, and then gives personal attention to one of them to help find their lost package by the United States Postal Services' mishandling. That folks is called SUPREME CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! So if you want to experience that, you need to order from Modern Skein, besides having a lot of nice yarn, they are top notch in making their customers feel special during a pandemic. So think about what they do for customers during normal periods!! I will be dropping by to shop in person next time I am in Texas!!! Thank you Modern Skein! ...

This place was so nice! Open. Airy. Bright. I stopped by for about an hour on a Saturday. There was a big table full of ladies knitting. It was very clean too! Which is important because if my only iffy bit… There’s a cat. I KNOW. I’m sorry. The cat was so super friendly and sweet and lovely. But as someone who has gone into anaphylaxis when they accidentally inhaled a cat hair - seeing the cat shot my anxiety up. The place was CLEAN. I didn’t see cat hair on anything. So I didn’t say anything about the cat. The owner was sweet, I’m sure she would have put him in the back if I had asked. But. A visible post outside, or maybe a note about him on the website would have been nice, so I would have known to bring my inhaler...

The new location is super convenient and the shop is beautiful. I wanted to tackle my first knitted top and was helped with picking out the color scheme, and needles needed and also assisted with a few questions I had while knitting. I purchased the pattern here at the shop and it was out of a nice card stock paper so it was durable and stood up to the test of being in my knitting bag.
