Tilley's Nursey — Local services in Coopersburg

We built a new pond and had it set up for about a month. We went to Tilley to buy Koi and other fish. When we made our first purchase, we bought a few comets and a fancy tail and a select Koi and spent a lot of money. We were told that some of the fish had been sick but they would give us ones without the black spots. We brought the fish home and floated them and placed them in the pond. The next day we went back and bought ten more comets and some shabukins and did the same as previous day. 3 days later we bought 4 more Koi and another shabukin and spent another 160 dollars. So at this point we had spent over 300 in a weeks time. A couple days later the fish started to die off. Tillys was replace them as they died and started selling us chemicals, first was told to buy a bacteria and salt to put in the water and we bought some other items, nets etc. another 70.00. Fish continued to died, then I was told maybe it was chlorine in the water and was sold vanish to remove chlorine and other things again. And still the fish continued to die. Then we were sold micro lift to kill bacteria and parasites which came from the the initial fish we bought. When we were sold it they said the only other thing it could be was our liner since we didn’t buy it from them. Was told to treat water for a week and then they would replace the Koi that died. That night we started to treat the water for bacteria and parasites. Every morning I had to go out and drain 1/3 of our pond and add water/vanish/ and biolift for bacteria and parasites. I treated for 5 days and fish were doing amazing. But because I was told by Tillys to spray the water from the hose to release chlorine gas into a container instead of directly into pond. The rock that was holding the hose fell into pond and put a hole in the liner so I had to rush to Tillys and buy a pond liner that cost me another 130.00. When we were there we got the fish that they promised to replace and we called it even since the fish were doing well and when we did so I took fish of less value because I felt bad, I don’t like to see anybody lose money. We replaced the liner and put the new fish in the pond. The next day 1 fancy tail and a large shobukin died. We stopped over one day because the Ph was up from rain and wanted to ask what to do. I was told to test the water for 3 days to get a average with a 50.00 kit I bought from them, you can buy for 25 with free shipping . They believed it would balance out. He told me even though we called it even after I tested the water to stop over and he’d take care of the 2 fish that died. I thought to myself what a stand up person. I couldn’t get over because I have blood cancer and have been having to travel back and forth for treatment. So today we stopped in to say pond and fish were doing amazing and thought we would stop by for the fish as he promised. He nasty this time and said his fish never caused and sickness and told my wife he would give us the 2 fish but now he wanted us to pay him 20.00 for 34.00 worth of fish. We decided to just leave. I never would have had to replace my liner if I didn’t have to treat our pond because there fish was sick. Later videos showed it was fluke and possibly parasites. We had spent about 1,000.00 buying pond plants, fish, liner, fountain etc. and where planning on building a huge pond in up coming month or so to prepare for the Koi to grow, that would have been thousands spent at Tillys, But I can assure you after the way my wife and I was treated today and over a lousy 2 fish, I will not buy anything From Tillys again and not refer anyone there. You can buy everything they sell for a lot less, but we like to support local businesses. Local people sell pond plants for less on fb. I will travel to buy my pond supplies elsewhere. I know Tillys has been in business for many years, but in these troubling times, you do damage relationships with customers who spend a ton of money every time they stop in. The way they treated us today is how you go out of business. Advice from one...

I absolutely love tilleys!!! Not only are the owners the nicest people on the planet, but they are like the freaking plant doctors!!! I bought a cats I had no business buying from there and in a month tops it was keeling over. I mean turning brown withering over and on its death bed... I certainly did not think this ant could be revived... ever.

Not only did they heal emily... (owners husband named her after her with me when i bought her... was the cutest thing) but they grew her! She's sprouting leaves and looks amazing!!! She's so much taller and just looks so terrified to be coming home with me again but...

I promised if I neglect her again and have to bring her back to the doctor, dinner is on me so... im really trying to keep her fed and alive this time so I don't have to feed you two!!! Lol

I am elated with having her back and to think you didn't charge me a red cent to keep her all these months you never resold her you all are just amazing!!!!

I have fun each and everytime i go to tilleys I will not buy plants to kill from anywhere else!!

Consistency...

We will never return and never refer anyone there. We are new to the area and we're hoping to get some mums to make our new house feel a little more welcoming. I was walking around trying to hold my son who was already fussy while trying to pick out some mums. I go to pick one up and this lady puts her head out the window and starts screaming about mums being sold and starts giving me all this attitude while I was trying to also calm my son down. Instead of offering to help find another one that was similar and not sold she just continues to stare at me through the window making me extremely uncomfortable so I ended up leaving with nothing. Only ONE mum was marked as sold and it was not the one I touched. All these mums were also sitting in the front of the store with other plants. They should have put them when customers couldn't access them or have them all marked. They also could have been more respectful in the way they spoke to me. Half the mums they even had to offer were dying so I don't think they have a great selection...
