Sugar Planet is the GREATEST candy shop I have ever been to! When I was young, I never got to opportunity of walking through a candy store and filling a bag full of sweets! Sugar Planet gave me that experience! With loving, helpful staff, the employees make sure you receive a top notch experience full of fun and laughter! From chocolate wands to gummy frogs, you will not be disappointed when you choose to treat yourself and your kids to some of the most delicious treats around! The ice cream is luscious and creamy! If you look up “tourist trap” you’ll find Sugar Planet. Here you’ll find name brand sweets aplenty at tourist prices. If you drive 5 minutes north, you can stop in at Harris Teeter and get the same candy for a fraction of the price.

The store advertises ice cream which is probably the most expensive for the amount on this part of the OBX. They also advertise milk shakes, but do not yet have the equipment to make them.

If you’re tracking on a budget, this place is a budget buster and there are more affordable option a short distance away.

Love it here—it’s so bright and cheerful inside, well stocked with a wide selection of all types of candies and confections, and such a fun experience especially with kids (although as the adult, I had just as much fun). The employees are both helpful and absolutely cheerful—interacting with them was a pleasure. The ice cream was delicious and everything was fairly priced in my opinion for the experience and the location (most things will be pricier because it’s a tourist destination).
