Aloha Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

I never bother to leave reviews, but i had to. Do not come here. Go to the one at the District. The location is cramped, the atmosphere is unfriendly, but I'd happily overlook all of that if the food were as good the other Aloha BBQ locations.

My shrimp was caked so thick with breading, that the outside was almost burnt, while the inside still had raw dough. Not appetizing at all.

The portions are MUCH smaller than what I'm used o from the District location. The fish fillets were also smaller, and over beaded too.

The cabbage is prepared differently. Sweet pickled? Not to my taste, but maybe to yours? The menu is also different. I ordered a Seafood Mix like I always do, and shame on me for not looking closely, got some sort of BBQ ribs instead of the teriyaki chicken I was expecting (not their fault, but annoying). The ribs were fatty to the point of being completely inedible. Maybe some people like that, I wanted meat, not just clumps of fat.

Thought I'd give the place a shot since it's closer to home, but I'll make the trek to the District...

So I want to start off by saying I used door dash to get my food. The service by my driver was great and she got her super quick. The food was fresh and tasted great. My only complaint is I go to Aloha BBQ near my house in Cypress. Depending if I'm out and about I frequent 2 locations and while the food is the same the portion size between this location and the locations I go to near my house are vastly different. This location doesn't give the same size portions. Where I normally go the food is almost busting out of the container. Here, it was a lot smaller than the what the portion size at other locations. i went there by 8.50pm, i had my food at 9.00 pm, so was not longer than i expected, when i started to eat i realized a lots of breadcrumbs on the Christy fish. I can say for not exaggeration 15% of fish roll up in breadcrumb while the woman comes to me she said we closed now saying you have to move out, i told her why you didn't told me before because i had already opened my box, she said go to subway next door than continue your meal there, can you imagine what kind of bad service and behaviors, so i stop it to eating than i put it my food in trash and i got away, my advice, do not waste your money, look inside of the kitchen, its very dirty, i promises, go to try and...
