I left my other gym in Cranford because I could not take the crowds, broken machines, and just not reaching by goals. I came to Strength and Fitness Club because I heard good things about it but I was reluctant to go because I hate the hard sell tactics that most gyms do. Strength and Fitness was not like this at all. I did not expect to sign up that day but after taking a no hassle tour and how helpfully the sales person was, I signed up on the spot. Thus far I can tell you it was a great decision. Everyone is so helpfully from the staff to the members at the club. You feel like you are part of a family. Another aspect of the club I really like, are the classes. I was never a class person because I thought they were just for women. Boy was I wrong, the sales person convinced me to try one and I really enjoyed it. It was very challenging and it was so much better than doing cardio. The instructors are great especially if you are new to the class. I also like that the classes are not overcrowded so the instructor is able to give you more attention. I did look at other gyms before coming here and all of them did not measure up. The gym I came from was $39.99 a month if you included classes, which is the same price I am paying at Strength and Fitness and it is a much better facility. I looked at the $20 gyms but they were overcrowded and the clientel there was not what I wanted to be around. I have been here for only 3 months and I have already lost more weight than I did at my previous club and I was there for over a year. Great gym, I recommend it...
Read moreStrength & Fitness is an excellent place to train that happens to be family owned and operated. The owner Doug is not only friendly but he's extremely passionate about what he does and it shows. (The guy literally jumped 10 stacked aerobic steps from a dead stop. I don't even think my cat can do that) Other clubs in the area are way too overcrowded and literally give off the feeling that you're just a number. If you're a member at S&F they know your name, your goals and who you are as a customer. IMHO, this goes a long way. Someone earlier posted negatively about the price... Thank God it's not the "cheapest" club in Cranford! If it was, it'd be just as overcrowded and worn out as the rest. If you want to go to a "cheap" club and like working out with all the high school kids, God Bless!! Go to the club down the street. If you can afford to pay a little bit more than a high-school kid, you appreciate not being packed in like a sardine and more importantly, you understand that you get what you pay for, this IS the best place...
Read moreEither I made a mistake in reading the contract or the staff made an error in telling me that I could cancel anytime. Regardless when I called called attempting to cancel my membership. The guy on the other end straight up tried to intimidate me and repeatedly told me that there’s no way someone told me that I could cancel any time.
I’m never going here again. I got other better more honest places to go. The way this situation was handled clearly shows to me that I cannot trust this facility or the people who work here.
If you’re looking for a cheap gym that’s good for the price this is probably a good fit for you, The equipment is good, from what I’ve seen the trainers are also pretty good, just know that If they tell you that you can cancel your membership anytime don’t believe it, because you can’t unless you move 25 miles away from your current home or get permanently injured to the point where you can never attend...
