As I read the reviews for this company, it appears they are really excelling in exterior work. However, I initially met with representatives from their company in Mid-March and was advised that my bathroom remodel would be completed in 4-6 weeks. It is now mid-September and my bathroom is not completed (itâs a small bathroom and not a large job at all). The tile contractor they used did a poor job altogether and didnât finish the work. On the first day, the contractor drove his truck and trailer in my neighborâs yard (across the street from me) instead of pulling up in my driveway. He did move the truck and trailer but backed up the trailer into my neighborâs yard again putting large ruts in it because it had been raining for a few days prior to this. He also did not have the contract and wasnât sure all of what he was supposed to do. He started tiling, without measuring and confirming that we had enough tile to cover the entire area. Yep, you guessed it, we were short about 12 tiles (to cover a 3 ft wall). We couldnât find the tile, because the manufacturer had gone out of business just 2 months before the work started in May. We ultimately found tile that we could create a new design with our other tile. He put the tile up and it really doesnât look like a professional job, they are uneven in places, and oh, he broke a tile, my very last tile. He put it up, broken in 3 pieces. He also installed the jets for my shower and left spaces where water could get into my wall. All of this and we are 6 months into the project. The drywall company, Peoria Tile, contracted by Perfect Choice, did a really good job putting up the drywall and they even pointed out the flawed job by the tile contractor. I wish they would have contracted Peoria Tile instead of the independent contractor. Baer glass installed the glass and door, they were amazing and were very professional. I was advised by the service manager that he would personally come out and finish installing my shower head and correct the errors by the tile contractor. A week later, another person from the company came over and indicated the service manager was no longer with the company. I showed him all the things I showed the prior service manager and he, too, agreed the job was poorly done and still not complete. The very next day, he came back with a completion certificate for me to sign. I refused to sign because my shower was NOT complete. I was advised because the salesman didnât specifically write on the contract âinstall shower head and jetsâ that they considered the job done and were not finishing the work. At this point, I was ready to hire an attorney. Their very own contractor began the shower work, but didnât finish and their very own service manager advised at the very start that they would install the shower system. I have now been in contact with the general manager and am waiting for them to finish my bathroom. I was advised that the financing wouldnât begin until the job was completed; however, I now have a payment due in 2 weeks. I really donât mind paying it, but I wish I could actually enjoy the use of my new shower before I have to pay. Overall the experience has been poor, with the exception of Peoria Tile and Baer Glass. I wish the owner would call me and discuss this experience. We have had a few bad experiences with independent contractors, in the past with people working on our other bathroom. I had hoped that, by working with a company, we might have more success. Unfortunately, that hasnât been our...
Read moreIn short, I would not be able to recommend Perfect Choice Exteriors and Bathrooms as a reliable company to complete quality work. My experience was high prices for low quality work.
Initially, the first impression was positive, and it genuinely felt like I was going with a reputable company. The sales representative did an excellent job with addressing my needs as well as my concerns with dishing out 5k for a small flooring job. I was, unfortunately, grossly misled. It was explained to me that Perfect Choice has a business structure in which they employ qualified professionals that are experts in their specific areas. It was further explained to me that their belief is that if someone is trained in many different trades, they will not be an expert in one, so they have specific individuals who only do flooring, specific individuals who only do shower installations, and so on. The sales representative went on to explain that they send their employees to various training classes for their specific trade to further enhance their skills and expertise. This information helped put my concerns at ease for the amount that I was quoted for. (I am an insurance adjuster, so I always do my own estimating just to make sure we are in a similar ballpark.) I ultimately decided the higher price tag would be worth the expertise and quality craftsmanship that I would be receiving. This is where the frustration comes into play. After over 2 months of waiting, they finally scheduled to have a contractor come out and do the installation of the vinyl flooring. The contractor that they sent out was not at all the flooring expert that was promised to us. He was not a dedicated employee for the company but an independent contractor who stated he just does some work for them every now and then when they need him. He was not at all the expert in one trade that was explained to me, nor did he have the various training classes. I do not fault him one bit, but it was very apparent that he was there to get a job done as quickly as possible, get paid, and in the process cut as many corners as possible. There were large gaps between the wall and the flooring where the subflooring was very visible. Some areas, he completely neglected to use a transition strip, where other areas where a transition strip was used, it was put down at an extreme angle and not straight across the doorway as it should be. My wife contacted Perfect Choice regarding these issues, and they wanted to remedy the situation by sending the same guy out, when what we wanted is the professional that was originally promised to us. My wife also explained that the contractor made us feel a little uncomfortable because he overshared some very personal details about his life, which made us a little uncomfortable. (For the sake of privacy, I do not want to go into details about this). When it was apparent that Perfect Choice had no interest in sending out the professional that was promised to us to finish the job, I told my wife that it is less hassle for me to complete the job myself then to fight with the company about holding their end of the agreement of providing a quality finished product, so that is where we end it. There are quite a few home improvement projects that my wife and I have planned for our home and as much as I hoped Perfect Choice would be a good company to continue working with in the future, we will be looking for a different company to build that working...
Read moreFirst off, Adrian is AMAZING. I really cannot say enough about what a good job he did on our bathroom. A craftsman is known by his finish work, and Adrian did absolutely stellar finish work. (Along with a great job on everything else.) He went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied with the job, and we most definitely are satisfied. Five stars -- nay, six -- are EASILY deserved based on the way our bathroom ended up. I will update this review with pictures as soon as I can get some that will show it off properly.
However, honesty requires me to say that Adrian was not our original installer. I'll skip the full saga, but let's just say the first attempt left a lot to be desired. Our bathroom looked like a cheap motel, with huge beads of messy caulk attempting to cover the gaps of poor cuts, a drain that leaked if we tried to take a bath, shelves that collected water instead of shedding it, a 34-inch cut in the top edge of our tub as if from a razor blade, and other various and sundry problems.
Making a long story short, it took almost a year of diligent follow-up on my part before I could even get a manager to come out and see what was going on, much less get any resolution.
(To be fair, they did send out another installer at one point, who scraped out the original caulk and replaced it with even wider beads of bright-white window caulk, giving the whole thing a strange coloring-book vibe. This caulk didn't even adhere to the shower walls properly, and began falling out after a few days.)
Finally, I mentioned that I'd been patient enough, and was getting ready to write my Google review, including pictures. That's when the owner got involved, and things finally started to happen.
The manager finally came over, and brought Adrian. Adrian looked everything over, then got to work, and I have to say, the guy practically worked a miracle.
To say that Adrian "fixed" everything that was wrong would be a gross understatement. Several parts had to be replaced. Others were able to be repaired (in fact, Adrian repaired the cut in the tub so well you can't even see it ever happened.) Some of the repairs required some trim work, and Adrian did an amazing job with that as well. He fixed the leaks and even replaced some corroded drain pipe. Frankly, the end result was a significant upgrade from what we had originally expected. I certainly never expected such an excellent result after the first two installers had come and gone.
Every business makes mistakes sometimes, but you can tell the good from the bad in how they handle them. In the end, I wish it hadn't taken almost a year of me following up (sometimes multiple times per week) for Perfect Choice to make things right, but they did eventually come through, and at no small cost. And credit where credit is due -- they even included some new ancillary materials that weren't part of the original job, but that became necessary to take care of the problems caused by it. So ultimately, they did have our backs after all.
And so, everything ends happily ever after.
The only thing left to say is, if you choose Perfect Choice for your home, might I suggest asking for Adrian by name? Based on our experience, you couldn't...
