These people used to be really friendly And helpful at first, but now when you go in there, you can’t even get no help without giving them your life story or asking or telling you why don’t you have a job why this etc…. i’m a single mom I was working at the time when I went into the office three days later I got told that I had to have surgery on my hip and my leg. I wasn’t needing a lot of food because I do get food stamps, but my food stamps wasn’t in me, and my children were needing a little bit to help us get by, so I went to these places to get all the documents that they needed to get everything going as soon as I told the lady that I needed to have surgery, she says well we’ll have to see something from your doctor. This is all I’m gonna saying but I would hate to have to see people that are more needy than me go through the things that I have went through with these people , just to get something to eat. It breaks my heart to think what they might have to go Do all of these things that I had to do? What if? They don’t have a vehicle. They don’t have gas. They don’t have etc…. But To be belittled and it kind of made me feel put down in a way but the people that need it the most yes I will survive, but the people that need it the most what do they do when they walk into that situation? Are they questioned? Do they need all these documents? I’m just wondering because in my heart I would never be able to turn down nobody for no kind of help. If I had it, and these people have the means of helping people supposedly that’s all I had to say have a...
Read moreI love shopping here because of all the the thrift stores in Cumberland County (And there are a lot!) Good Samaritans (GS) has the best and most diverse selection of items. The quality of what I buy there is usually "top shelf." I bought this awesome jacket with a Picasso like design that was totally unique and I get compliments whenever I wear it. I also bought high quality snow boots right before that big Arctic snow hit us. My only thing is that it's one of the most expensive thrift stores I have ever been to. :-( That $20 in my pocket doesn't go far at GS compared to other stores. I think it would be great if they had more ticket color sales including outerwear, jeans, and shoes. I need to pop some tags, you know what I mean? Or if GS did like Goodwill and had 50% everything in the store once a month I'm sure their sales would triple! Hint Hint,...
Read moreThis has been a really hard year for us. Both my spouse and i lost our jobs and we are trying to make ends meet.. I came here to try and seek assistance for my rent and instead recieved a lecture on how irresponsible I am. At my lowest point I didnt need to be made to feel worse. I had a very well paying job and it was taken away. These two ladies made me feel so terrible over a situation that is completely out of my control I haven't been able to stop crying. I dont deserve to be looked down at like that, i am aware of my situation and this place is the reason why many probably have committed suicide or gone homeless. This organization isnt treating people...
