Disliked the service
I visited here today (late august) in hopes to begin my winter garden. After doing some research on my own about planting, I already had a general idea of what plants I wanted to start with BUT I was seeking a little additional professional guidance and this was my experience:
I go in and walked around the store just to check it out since I hadn't visited before (the store was clean and set up very well organized! the prices on their produce were a little higher than what I'd expect from the local grocery store, however, for locally grown produce I think the prices are fair) After walking around a bit.
I make my way to the garden area and notice the gardener at the checkout counter with a you couple. I walk around a bit and eventually go and stand in front of the half empty seed stand browsing for about 5 minutes or so. The garden guy walks past me, and in passing says "If you want to check out go to the front". I wasn't really expecting the rudeness, but I was glad someone spoke to me. I brushed it off and just assumed he was due for a break. A few more moments go by and I head to the front. I asked the check out clerk about the available seeds, and she was actually quite helpful. She walks back to the garden section with me, verifies that "what you see is what you get". sure okay, it's august...the season is changing..whatever. She then calls the garden guy from her cell to ask if there were any fresh versions of what I wanted - and no...it wasn't. So I had about 5 different seed packets - ready to check out...then the garden guy comes back outside...
He takes the seeds out of my hand and tells me I can't plant ANY of this during August. (3 of them say on the packet that you can plant until September so that annoyed me) Then he walks over to the shelf and proceeds to put the seed packets back on the shelf stacked together as I stand there with a blank stare. Then he walks off while telling me to read the list on the wall.
You know what - the Market overall wasn't bad..the gardeners customer service was...

But after going over to Strong's off I-35 I feel like I really need to let everyone know how great a this place it is. their prices are a little higher and they don't have as much variety as a place like Strong's however if you have a question there's always someone willing to help you. if you need help with getting around they're always there to help you maneuver your cart or just push it for you. they know a lot about the plants and have repeatedly helped me find things that I had found online and wanted to find locally. I will never again not leave a review for a business when it is this great! Unlike at Strong's, Saturday us a great time to help you diagnose any issues you are having. Yes, Strong's actually complained that I asked for help...
Read moreI was excited to see this place so close to my new home and went in knowing exactly what I wanted. Because I had never been here, I just needed help in locating the items on my shopping list. Well good luck with that! The "service" was absolutely horrific with a couple of truly lazy employees looking around and acting like they would rather be anywhere else. Since they didn't seem to want me there, I left without buying anything. To make matters worse, when I called management and informed them, they had the same attitude. I went to Cristinas Garden Center and was treated the way a customer is supposed to be treated. I will drive right by this place for years to come in order to go to a real garden center that appreciates my business. Bad move...
