Ahhh, Vickery Athletics...where do I even start? When I moved to Dallas in 2018, I had come from a gym that felt like home. So when I started looking for a new gym I struggled to find that same feeling. I tried all sorts of gyms for a year and a half and had honestly given up on finding a gym.
Fast forward to October 2019 I randomly ran into an old friend at a coffee shop and they recommended a gym called “Vickery Athletics”.
Quick google search, submitted the form about getting more information, Zach called me within 24 hours (I feel like it was the same day). He walked me through how they operate, the class structure, the different programs, the personality of the gym and the different schedules. He answered my massive list of questions. I came in the next day and tried one class and that was it. I knew this was the gym I was looking for (sounds cheesy, I know). I didn’t know it then, but Vickery was about to become not only my gym, but also my saving grace.
Enough about me here’s what I love about Vickery: -ALL of the coaches are very knowledgeable and all have very different personalities and coaching styles. I am very picky when it comes to who coaches me and I kept thinking I’m going to meet at least one coach who’s classes I’m going to avoid because I don’t like their coaching style. But nope, that never happened and even as we’ve welcomed new coaches in that hasn’t changed. I think Zach does an amazing job at not only picking his coaches, but also making sure they are thoroughly trained. -When Covid hit Zach really stepped up. He started doing live streaming workouts, town halls, checking in on everyone, letting us check out equipment so that we could continue on during these weird times. Also, when the snow storm hit Zach checked in on everyone and made sure we had a place to stay with running water and heat. -Not all owners stay in check with their athletes, but I appreciate that Zach does. He has to listen to a lot of my rambles or rants from me, but always gets back to me and give me advice when it comes to my health and fitness goals or struggles. -Zach is also very attentive to the members and notices when something is off and makes the effort to check in to make sure you’re good. Or if I’m not showing up consistently (or at all) he reaches out to see what’s going on and how we can tackle whatever it is so that I get back into the gym (usually work stress). -I love the support the gym provides, the members are welcoming, fun to joke around and banter with. -I love that even when a member leaves because they are moving or just life is happening you still stay connected to them. From time to time former members will pop in and it’s a nice reminder that how many people truly love this gym. -The gym has all the standard equipment, recently just got some touch ups and a Little face lift to the interior and exterior. -You can get your protein powder from the gym as well as some fitaids when in stock. -Pre Covid the gym would have events or get togethers, which I think helps everyone stay connected and build friendships. So I’m looking forward to the future once things start to even back out. -Lastly, the workouts. I love that we do a new program every 6ish weeks and it’s always a variation. Zach does a write up (or vlog about the program) and then each week he posts the schedule each day will consist of.
Vickery has honestly changed my entire lifestyle in so many areas. I am currently the strongest, healthiest, and in the best shape I’ve been in in years. I don’t think I could ever find a better gym for myself (not that I would even think about leaving now). I’m thankful for every member and coach because I wouldn’t be where I’m at today if it wasn’t for their support over the past year and a half. Thanks for always pushing me to keep moving forward (or to just keep moving in general). Lol
So if you’ve gotten this far on my long winded review you should 1000% submit a form to get more information and check out Vickery Athletics. I’m so...

Being able to show up everyday to thoughtful and intentional programming and to just put in work is awesome. The fact that the trainers are so attentive and care about the members wellbeing continues to display as evidence that consistency and longevity in the gym are extremely important.
If you want to get into a gym for the first time, or if you are looking for a place to take it to the next level, come check it out! There is no better gym to call 'home'.
Original Review: Over my time spent there so far, I have nothing but great things to say about Vickery Athletics and the entire staff. All of the trainers (and their dogs) make the environment extremely enjoyable, and it is obvious that they genuinely care about the people that train there.
Coming from a serious injury it was of paramount important to me to find a place that provided good oversight and that put form as a priority. Vickery Athletics is not about coming in and chasing max reps and throwing around the most weight you possibly can regardless of form. Unlike some establishments, the trainers are paying attention and will actually step in and correct (be that form alone, a request to lower weight, etc.)
The facility itself is well laid out, and very well maintained. They seem to be constantly improving the space to benefit the members. Just recently they added an InBody Scanner for hyper-accurate testing of muscle mass, muscle density, body fat, weight, etc. (highly recommend you check this out).
Classes are held throughout the day and the gym is open 7 days-a-week for those that just want access and to use the weights/machines. If you are looking to really make a true impact with your fitness, Vickery is the place to be. Come one time to check out a class, and you will not want to leave. --will...
Read moreI am a 6'2", 312 lbs veteran with small issues, both from the military and my own makings, and after being a member of a few different CrossFit gyms in the Dallas area, I joined Vickery and have not regretted it at all. I am generally the slowest, last, etc in whatever workout we do but, not once has Zach and his coaching team ever been anything but awesome in their willingness to scale a workout for me but still push me too improve. The facilities are more than adequate for every activity that is programmed as well as some other nice additions such as a few showers, quality supplements for sale at reasonable prices and even some yoga. This is a proper no-nonsense CrossFit box and is not ashamed to show it. The coaching staff is good and the programming approach is even better as Zach does what all quality fitness professionals should do... push you to strengthen your weaknesses. If you love to lift heavy stuff, that's great because you will but expect to stuff that isn't your favorite like run, burpees and the like. Just suck it up and do it, you'll be a better human for it. Lastly I feel the need to me mention the owner, Helios. The dude is pretty awesome. He is a smaller guy but high energy doesn't begin to describe him. This, plus his cheerful nature at 630 am and good attitude will always make you feel a little better at being there so dang early. That's about it... If your looking for a place to meet whatever your health goals are, I encourage you to give Vickery a shot, you...
