Update: I've had more nonvegan and also had vegan pizza from this location, and while the vegan cheese was sort of... just like a liquid, it otherwise still tasted good. Maybe not my favorite vegan pizza ever, but better than many I've had. The quality doesn't suffer when you order in the early AM or not long before close, either. I've only received one burnt/bad pizza out of dozens of orders, so realistically, that's a pretty dang good track record for a 'fast food' pizza place. And they are FAST. Never had a late pizza, even on larger orders.
Definitely has become my favorite nonvegan pizza place. I really love their more classic nonvegan pizzas: the zealot/supreme meat and vegetable versions, pepperoni, the OG, etc. I eat way too much pizza now, the employees recognize me on sight. I didn't even used to like pizza that much. The personal size (minis) and daily deal are perfect bang for your buck.
What I can't recommend are the 'fancy' pizzas like the Pineapple Express or Notato. Sickeningly sweet and just a weird clash of flavors. I love a good pineapple and canadian bacon pizza but I threw most of the Pineapple Express away. The only 'fancy'/signature pizza I ever liked was the texas barbeque, but when eating it a second time, I kind of realized all I really tasted/enjoyed was the bbq sauce. The breadsticks are good, but tiny. Paying 3 dollars for what turned out to be the size of a slice of toast putting all the breadsticks together is a no-go for me, because they weren't mind blowing or anything.
Edit: Well their customer service is certainly good. I sent them the details of the pizza I received as they asked below and within hours was given a nice store credit. Since I was up in the AM again tonight I gave it another shot. This time I ordered the Supreme instead of just pepperoni, and added oregano. Again, the pizza was made fast and was fresh. The taste was MUCH better, as was the crust. Despite all the meat it was still way less greasy than most pizza places, so I really dig that. They also don't skimp on toppings. I'll be back next time a late night craving hits. Glad I ended up trying it again. I noticed this time that they have vegan crust and cheese options, so I'll be telling my vegan family members about them.
Old: Was the pizza amazing? Nah. About like a good quality frozen pizza. But, it was fresh, cheap, and quick at 2:30am on a Thursday when I was working overnight from home and had a craving for pizza but nothing in my freezer to pop in the oven. I appreciate that it wasn't as insanely greasy as some fast food pizzas are, and they didn't skimp on the pepperoni.
Maybe sometime I'll try one of their fancier pizzas during the...
Read moreFirst time customer, I ordered from Zalat based on the mostly excellent reviews. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and a salad. It arrived a few minutes after the time they texted me and there was some confusion on the driver’s part regarding my order. The first thing I noticed was that it looked like a leftover pizza. It was barely warm and had greasy, solidified cheese. Back in olden times, before we all started using Uber Eats and Doordash drivers who put our food in their back seats and bring it to us, pizza places had their own delivery drivers who kept pizzas in these miraculous insulated pizza-box shaped bags so your pizza stayed blisteringly hot and the cheese was all melty and delicious when it arrived. I haven’t had a pizza delivered for several years so I didn’t know that delivery people have no way to keep a pizza hot now. Lesson learned. The second problem was there was no sauce on the pizza. The menu says it has home made marinara—there was no visible sauce. I peeled back the hard cheese to see if it was hiding underneath, but no, no shy marinara. I called Zalat and spoke to a very nice man who was the manager on duty, and he told me that their marinara is very light, kind of watery, and they barely put any on. I told him that I had peeled the cheese off to see the sauce, so apparently it was so light as to be invisible. Emperor’s New Clothes sauce. The final disappointment was the salad, which was limp and plainly past it’s prime—some of the cut edges had turned red. I threw the whole mess away and ate a couple of ice cream sandwiches for dinner. Next time I order pizza, it won’t be from here.
Edited to add: Zalat management immediately refunded my money and contacted me to apologize after they read my review. Very good customer...
Read moreHaving never received my pizza, I am unable to review the food. However, I was privileged to endure the worst customer service that I have ever experienced.
We ordered a pizza to our hotel around 2:30 on Saturday night, and my confirmation email said the pizza would be delivered at 3:50. Longer than I expected, but not a problem. 4:00 rolls around and there is no sign of a pizza. I call and text the number provided with no response. At 4:15, I left my phone on high volume and went to bed. I wake up in the morning to no pizza and no missed calls.
I texted once and called multiple times on Sunday morning with no response, so we ended up going to the restaurant's location that afternoon. After explaining the situation, the manager looked into it and said the pizza was "delivered" at 4:37 AM. Not sure how that's possible since I was never contacted to take delivery. I requested a refund and was refused. After harping on the fact that I was never contacted to meet the driver, I was offered half off. Upon further discussion, the manager told me to "never order from us again" and "to f*ing leave" among other unintelligible things muttered under his breath. When I called after him, he said he would refund me, then went to the back and he as well the entire staff refused to acknowledge my presence until another customer came in.
I did get the refund, which seems only fair given the situation. However, the complete disregard for common courtesy and being cussed out by the management of the store was completely unacceptable. There is a way to professionally handle complaints and admit when you are in the wrong, but this arrogant, angry manager completely...
