This was my first time to Strangeways. I never realized it, but I have been across the street visiting my friend who lives at Easton several times over the past year. I should start off with the price, because this is going to be a little more pricey than people are used to, but still less than what would be regarded as higher-end and higher-cost places. Their regular pours are $8, and you can get a flight of five 5-ounce pours for $23.50. The layout of the venue is nice, and the patio is very nice. I went with the Dallas Beer Club, and we took over the majority of the patio. The place was not too crowded, even with the large number that we brought. I ordered all of my drinks at the bar, as did everyone else in my group who I saw place orders. The two girls and one guy behind the bar were extremely helpful and friendly. The gentleman in the red and black button-up shirt was particularly helpful, and I commend him. I did not catch any of their names, so I apologize to management. The only negative aspect of the experience was when I tried some french fries that one of my friends received with their food order, and they were not very good (dry, over-seasoned, and over-deep-fried). Then again, I only went for the drinks, so that really is no loss to me. It would be incredibly unfair if I did not say that they had a ridiculously amazing selection of beers on tap, but I have to also say that I went during their week-long special of all barrel-aged...
Read moreStrangeways in Dallas is more than just a bar; it's a vibrant heartbeat of the community. On my recent visit, I was immediately struck by the eclectic and cozy atmosphere that makes this place a local favorite. While the space could use a bit of repair, this minor detail fades in the face of the bar's incredible vibe and the warm, welcoming community that fills it.
I learned about the legal struggles the owners faced to keep Strangeways open, which only added to my appreciation for the space. It's clear that this isn't just a business; it's a community hub, fueled by the passion of its patrons and the dedication of its owners.
The extensive beer selection here is impressive, catering to all tastes, from craft beer aficionados to those who just want a casual drink with friends. But it's the laughter, conversations, and connections that truly define Strangeways. It's the kind of place you want to visit with a group of friends, talk over drinks, and leave with stories to tell.
If you haven't been to Strangeways yet, make it your next stop. You'll find more than just a bar; you'll discover a community space where every visit is memorable. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, you're in for a treat – a place where you can relax, enjoy great drinks, and be part of a community that's keeping a...
Read moreI live in the neighborhood. 3 blocks away. Been in dallas for 2 years and this is definitely the place to go. Great service. Great beer (they just won "best beer bar in Dallas" ...not a surprise with 40 taps ranging from IPAs, sours, Bocks, randoms, and always a great (5-7 taps dedicated) selection of barrel aged beers. Its casual. Cant attest to the food, however. Large patio and inside is spacious enough for groups of 5-6 at seemingly anytime. Because of their great selection expect taps to be priced from 6-10 dollars and beyond. Id recommend asking what the pricing is after u choose your drink so youre not surprised. I havent had any cocktails there, but ive observed the makings of them and they do it with care. Good vibes. Typically hiphop/chill wave beats sprinkled with some good Smiths tracks (its namesake.) They do flights as well and theyre reasonably priced. The owner is very clearly a beer lover. The Craft Beer Cellar (down the road) cant compete. If you're looking for a chill place with a GREAT beer selection you should come here. NO PLACE in the surrounding areas (greenville, knox/henderson, deep ellum, oak lawn, uptown, lakewood, east dallas) can compete with their rotating beers. Settle...
