Rakestraw Books is the only retail bookstore in Downtown Danville. It is a wonderful gem for book lovers. Has a nice selection of books, including local Bay Area authors and East Bay authors in particular, and gifts for sale in a cozy, comfortable setting.
Rakestraw Books has wonderful, free literary events / book readings and signings for the community for both adults and kids.
Kid Friendly: On Thursday & Saturday morning, they have Storytime for 2 - 4 year olds, which includes a craft activity at times. On special Storytime events, you need to call to RSVP to save a spot. On one Saturday, Rakestraw Books had a Madeline Storytime, in which Madeline came out at the end to greet and take photos with her. The under 5 year crowd was stunned and speechless when she walked in.
There is a Kids and Teens areas at the back of the store with kid size chairs to sit and books and things for sale at preschoolerās eye level (watch out - lol).
Rakestraw Books is located right next to Starbucks and across from Trader Joeās on Railroad Road, which is next to San Ramon Valley High School. Find a parking space can be tough in the free parking lot depending on the...

Any book they don't have on the shelf they can order and have it in the store often by the next day. Who needs Amazon? Support...
