Smart & Final Extra! — Local services in Danville

This was our first, and probably last time, coming to this Smart & Final.

We came at a slower hour on a Monday evening. We enjoyed the selection, clean store, and competitive pricing offered, however, the service left a lot to be desired.

At the register, we left our items in the basket, as we have had other cashiers prefer to have all the items in one place. Our cashier for the evening, Taylor, commented "It's all gotta come out of the basket eventually", unhappy with our choice. Had he asked, we would have rectified our mistake. The second comment came after he asked if we'd like bags. We politely confirmed we would, to which he sighed aloud and said, "Of course".

At this point my partner and I were looking at the other guests in line, unsure of what we had done to anger this man. When he fumbled our apples and asked if we wanted them in the bag, I said "whatever would be quickest for you", now looking to leave in a hurry. He replied with a snark "We're WAY past that point now."

We hurriedly took our receipt and practically ran out of the store, bewildered at the aggressive interaction we just endured.

We are unsure if Taylor was just having a bad day or if what we had done really rubbed him the wrong way, however, we will not be...

Decent selection, not cheap and some older employees very de-motivated probably because of poor management

One of the female employees that was there 3_4 weeks ago, made fun about c-19 not being serious and speaking about her 2nd shop as a ride share driver, while ignoring another guest.

So it didn't surprise me this week that when I came in late the only bottle to disinfect was not even working ( Filled up to the brim but broken), that nothing seemed to have been cleaned/designated the whole day?!!

This store should be checked out by the health department and maybe even closed

Positive again: Decent selection, some friendly some not...

Pretty unbelievable what happened here last night. My neighbor and I decided to go shopping together. My neighbor got done paying for her items and I was up next. The cashier started yelling at us telling us that we could only buy one prime rib. I told her that we were neighbors. She kept yelling at us calling us liars over and over, And in front of other customer's . 2 of the customers in line came up to us and said they couldn't believe what they just saw.
