A couple of months ago, I broke the screen of my iPhone 6, rendering it completely unresponsive. I tried to make an appointment at the apple store, but their next opening was a week away. So, for the sake of convenience, I took a drive down to Dr. Phone Fix. I was greeted by an older mustachioed man with bulging eyes. He looked at my phone and told me he could have it fixed the same day for a fee of $150. I was happy I could have my phone back so soon, but the price sounded a little off. I tried bargaining, but it was to no avail. The man working assured me that the apple store would charge me the same amount, if not more to fix my screen. I believed him.
I got my phone back a few hours later, and everything seemed okay with it. Within a few days, however, I noticed that something was off. My battery's life wasn't what it used to be, it drained very quickly. After a month of use, I became fed up and made an appointment with apple. Since my phone was not yet a year old, I figured a spotty battery would be covered under warranty and maybe I could get it fixed for free. The long, traffic-ridden drive to Aventura made me consider the convenient location of Dr. Phone Fix.
When I got to the apple store, the genius took one look at my phone and knew my screen wasn't fixed by apple. Apparently the nice folks at the genius bar won't even touch your phone if it's been repaired somewhere else. I pleaded that this was an issue with my battery, and not my screen. Then I was told that my battery was draining so quickly because of the off-brand screen on my phone. He said it was not calibrated with the stock apple parts correctly, and that is why my battery was draining. He also said that they could have fixed my screen at apple before for $109. Now that it had been repaired at Dr. Phone Fix however, they wouldn't work on it.
I left the apple store pretty fed up. Then, only a week later, my phone's screen became unresponsive again. This time, I didn't drop it, or put any pressure on it whatsoever. One moment the screen was working, the next it was not. Dr. Phone Fix allegedly offers a 90-day warranty for these kinds of situations.
So I took my phone back to Dr. Phone Fix in Davie, and spoke with the same mustachioed man. He wouldn't believe the screen was defective, and refused to hear for a second that I didn't drop or put pressure on the phone. He was convinced that this second break was done by me. So he wouldn't touch the thing for less than another $100, breaking the rule of his company's warranty. I left the store, woeful about wasting so much time, money, and effort with this knock-off repair shop.
Since then I have been using my factory-stock iPhone 5. Even after the two years of use, the battery life is a lot better than that of my iPhone 6 after the "repair" at Dr. Phone Fix. I plan to take this to their corporate office and leave the same review everywhere I can. Please don't sacrifice quality for convenience when looking to get your...
Read moreOld Review : 2 years Back : Very easy. In and out. Reasonable for getting my iPad fix. New Review: My past good experience motivated me to use them more and more. Unfortunately last time it was total disaster for me :(. I gave iPad Pro to fix charging problem where it would charge in some exact angle due to charging socket problem. It was working iPad which I bought for $799 but had frequent charging issue :(. I gave in Dec/Jan 2020. Manager on that time send for repair, which would have costed me 250+ so I requested to return me as-is. He told me, he will let me know once it comes back. I have Text message to prove that I got reply in Feb 1st week from manager that he has not received it and will let me know once it arrives. I wend out of country for few weeks with family and got stuck with Pandemic and viral infection. due to travel ban and family health issue I came back in June. After I came back, I reach out to Owner and employees, they said, They cannot find my iPad and as per their policy they are not liable for it. I kept asking them show me any policy about time which I signed or you communicated. Show log of communication they called me to come and pick iPad. I have last text messages which says its not arrived. All in All I lost my iPad Pro because they misplaced it, and owner was not even ready to compensate couple of hundreds, and keep bringing Old manager's fault. Manager was not my employee but I end up paying for it. NOT going to this store in future. I have used Dr. Fix different locations for many items but this experience of loosing so much money turned me off... BE careful dealing these people. I did ask about corporate help, they says nothing can be done either. what is the use of using reputed chain if they cannot help either.
Update, Answer to Vendor reply: Your argument that iPad pro cost $300 not $799 is great. can you sell one 128 GB for 300?? Anyways Not getting argument but It was surly working iPad with issue with charging. Your manager send me back first time saying its working iPad as he found no issue and than next time I came back after a week and he could see the issue. You were still not able to give any proof of communication in Feb after last text message its not available to pick up and before you choose to depose. Anyway you surly loosing customer and any future recommendation from me. I would surly stay away and will recommend...
Read moreI went to this shop to fix my Ipad screen. Before I went I called the store and was told the job will be done in 1 hour. When I went to the store the guy said, it would take 2.5 hours and told me to come back by 5:30 PM and told me that the store close at 6 PM. When i went back at 5:30 PM, the guy told me he had lot of orders and told me that he is not done and he would not take more than 30 minutes. After waiting for 30 minutes, I asked him if he is done as I have an appointment to go for. He raised his voice and said, he is working on it. At around 6:30 PM, he comes out and say that it is fixed. Now, I asked him how much does a screen protector costs and he raised his voice and said 45 dollars ! He made up an angry face. I told him , you told me to come at 5:30 and it is already an hour over and still the Ipad is not fixed and you are getting angry. He said his face is like that. I told him , "when I left the ipad with you, you were not like this and now you are raising your voice". He told me, I will return the money and remove the screen and put back the broken one. I asked him to call the manager/owner. He said he is the owner and told me to go out of the store. He did not even give me an opportunity to check my Ipad is working or not and he held the door open and told me to walk out of the store.
This is a very unprofessional, rude behavior. Stores to fix Ipad are dime a dozen. He charged 117 dollars to fix this and on top of the payment had to waste time waiting. Lastly when i asked if there is any warranty, he said there is no warranty!
Please ensure you are in the right hands.. I would not go to this store again.
I felt the behavior was rude, unprofessional ,...
