The selection is great. The food is okay. The customer service was depressing. It is one of those places that treat customers like the enemy. My negative experience centered on one person and if anyone from there reads this, I am not trying to get anyone in trouble. I think that they do business in a way that works for them. It just doesn't work for me. First I went in and asked for 3 carryout menus because there were four of us in the car. I was told sternly and suspiciously that she could only give me two. It was like I was trying to get over on them somehow. Not sure what I was going to do with an extra sheet of legal size printer paper but OK no problem. I took the two thanked her and left. A little later my friend called in our orders. Our orders together came to over 50 dollars and she was told that they needed a credit card number. She offered her AmEx but they don't accept it. I was standing there with my Visa in my hand if she needed it, but I heard her talking and the person on the phone let her split the orders because they were truly separate. She asked REPEATEDLY if that would allow them to start making them because we were on a strict deadline. They said yes. We get there when they were supposed to be ready and the same carryout menu lady takes our money but doesn't give us food because THEY HAVEN'T STARTED IT. WOW...ok! She explains that whoever took the order was new and "shouldn't have told us that they could start it". She had obviously heard the whole story because she repeated the credit card policy and told my friend accusingly that she didn't have a card they accepted. She had already collected our money and we were in an extreme time crunch so we waited and got our orders. Bottom line...she was clearly so interested in protecting the stores resources, a carryout menu and approximately 51 dollars (yes the total order was really that close to the 50 dollar limit) worth of food, from what she appears to see as the scheming and conniving machinations of her customers that she made the entire experience quite unpleasant. The food tasted like fried fish nothing special. There were alot of different varieties of fish and some other products that looked interesting and I probably would have gone back another time to check them out but it's not worth the feeling of sadness...
Read moreI spent $60.00 worth of fish here. I recieved 4 packets of condiments. When I ask may I have more condiments the man told me me I had to pay 36 cents more. I was confused and asked why, he told me that is what the owner says. Now if I have bought 60.00 worth of fish how far do you think 4 packets of condiments will go? So, I ask to speak with the owner. The owner ( older white man man) very rude says what? I say excuse me sir I paid already would just like more than 4 packets of condiments for my 60.00 order. He says okay so where's your 36 cents? Me again extremely confused of the service I am getting say my purse is in the car sir I have money I just paid 60.00 worth of food from you I just want a few more condiments he says you people always just want a few more pay or get out out. I bbn already paid for the food so I left. But hey I can't tell you what to do but respectfully I strongly suggest we "PEOPLE" STOP GIVING HIM OUR BUSINESS .. People say he's usually nice but today I assure you he showed his true colors. This is the first review I have ever made in me life. The fish is amazing though but I will not give this MAN another red cent of my money...
Read moreFirst I want say that Dayton Fish Market should be ashamed of themselves! The one star is not worth it. My husband bought 6 mullet fish, requesting filleted and want the back bone. ( For those who eat mullet knows that it's customary to cook cause it has good meat on them). I opened the first bag the fillets were beautiful. The other bag which should haved been the back bones, well it was along the head and the guts attached! I spoke to someone around 2:45 pm, I asked was if it their policy to have the head of the fish, the guts, back bone still attached if one requested to keep the back bone after being filleted? His reply was no. I was told some would call back. I waited no call, I called at 6:15 pm. I was leaving a voice message and the owner answered the phone. Denied anything like could happen and she tried to humiliate me by saying so you want a store credit I'll give you a dollar. Bring the fish back I'll clean the guts sell it to someone else! So if this could never happen why offer to clean guts. I wasn't going to keep listening to her talk over me. She knows she is the one who waited on my husband. READERS RACISM AND IGNORANCE...
