I read a few reviews about how their fruits never last for very long. It is because their fruits are organic with no pesticides. This is very typical of fresh fruit that is not processed. Go to walm#+$ and buy lettuce and it will last for 10 days before it browns....I wonder why? Cut a head of lettuce from a garden (off the vine as they say) that did not use chemicals to preserve it and your looking at 2-3 days tops before it starts to brown. This goes for fruit's also (I have fruit trees and a variety of veggies in my own garden/yard). Until you grow your own, I'm guessing most of you buy from chain stores, I can't blame you for your shock. Anyways, the prices are good and the selection is great (as long as your not looking for over-processed brand name GMO foods). The hot food bar is also well stocked, delicious, and very inexpensive...but like any deli, timing is important b/c food under steam tables only stays for so long. As far as the rude employees, some are and some aren't..like most retail establishments and our society as a whole. I wouldn't judge the entire city of Boston b/c of a few rude natives or a single Street b/c of a bad neighbor or jump to some imagined race conspiracy b/c you feel out of your element or no one said "hi" to you. Step back, prioritize what's important to your mission (healthy food for your family in this instance), don't be so paranoid/sensitive, and don't sweat the little stuff.... you'll live happier and longer.
PS. I have no invested interest in this store or its management. Just...
Read more2 stars only because they have great prices on produce, however, those prices are offset by the fact that they are constantly overcharging you at the register. Not exaggerating, for the last 8 times I’ve been there, they’ve overcharged me, either rang up an item twice, had multiple items on the scale when weighing something, asked for a price check and never took the item off the bill after I said I didn’t want it, and the most common and egregious thing they do is have items miss priced so they ring them up incorrectly. On multiple occasions I’ve notified the cashier it was rung up for the wrong price. Rather than doing a price check and correcting it, they defend the wrong price and said “this is what it costs!” Then you have to spend another 20 minutes going through customer service to fight about $2.
Additionally, the customer service here is god awful. Especially the hot food bar. They act like they are doing you a favor by selling you food! Someone should notify them that they are in the service industry. I doubt anyone in this place has ever had customer service training.
Finally, I avoid the butcher shop after I bought kibbe meat that looked ok at the meat section, and as soon as I got it home and cut into the meat, it was brown! Imagine that, they are selling BROWN RAW MEAT, that looks ok from the outside, which leads me to believe they put some kind of chemical on the meat to make old meat...
