I purchased a recumbent bike in February from this store that took me down a winding road...ironic being that it's a stationary bike.
I didn't actually get around to trying the bike till month-end May due to a series of life events (both regular and irregular/traumatic) but suffice it to say that when I did finally try the bike, it worked for less than 5 mins then powered off and would not turn back on no matter what I tried. This kicked off a month plus back and forth between me and the store owner, Jason, to try to get the bike working again.
At first, his attitude was 'sorry but it's past the 2-week return window so it's out of my hands.' Note, I never asked for a return...just for him to help troubleshoot the bike and get it working again or replace it with a "working" bike being that I'd paid $399 + tax + delivery fee for the bike.
It took a little persistence on my part but he did come around. He ordered a replacement power cord (which turned out to not even fit or work with my bike) and sent one of the guys (Max I think) to try to get the bike working again. Still with no luck, he arranged to have a home equipment repair company come out.
Turns out that the bike had this hidden switch on the bottom of the console that none of us knew about. The switch must have gotten jostled because when the tech found it, it was in an in-between position, not on and not off but due to its positioning, the bike wouldn't turn on. So that was the problem and otherwise the bike works as it should.
Hence...this update. I really do appreciate that the store/Jason came around and worked with me to get the bike working again. And while it took some persistence on my part to get him to change his mind, in the end he did which is what matters most.
I have purchased a variety of equipment from Play It Again Sports over the years (upright stationary bike; treadmill; 3 bean toss; etc. and most recently the recumbent stationary bike in question) and will continue to do so. The employees, especially Max, are...
Read moreI came in with a couple of brand new baseball helmets. They offered me a price and I said I needed to speak to my wife to decide cash or store credit, and would most likely return as my son plays several sports. I was told it would not be a problem, they gave me a WRITTEN quote. My wife made the stop after a doctors visit with our 8 month old. She was alone and brought a box with the helmets, the WRITTEN QUOTE, and other items including bats we had previously purchased from "Play It Again" that also had the stamped markings of "Play It Again". They refused to accept the WRITTEN QUOTE, because they said an employee had made a mistake. They offered her less than the original quote for everything in the box. Another employee spoke up and said he could not do that because the bats were marked, there was a specific price for them. The other employee interrupted him and said we are not taking bats period, this is the only offer. They were rude and disrespectful to my wife who was shocked by their attitudes. They refused to assist her to her car with the box and baby in hand. I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER PENNY WITH PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS....EVER. I WILL SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH EVERY PARENT WITH MEET WITH OUR SONS...
Read moreThis location is not customer friendly. I called today at 5:35 and informed the young man that answered the phone that my family was on the way, and that we would arrive at 5:55pm (5 min until close). I advised the young man that my son would need new shoulder pads and a new helmet. He asked if I knew his size and I responded that I did not. He stated that he would need to ask his manager if he had time for a fitting and if we came we would need to know the exact size. I found this interesting because “what if” we traveled to purchase equipment with out calling beforehand?? Would you turn the customer away?
If I am patronizing your business then work with the customer to make accommodations. I understand that you have rules or don’t want to work an additional 15 min past your close time. However, nothing is wrong with making exceptions and going the extra mile for your customers regardless of the time. A customer should receive the same level of service from open to close. That is why I am taking my...
