As a twenty five year customer of Graham Crackers, and shopping at DeKalb for over a decade, I cannot say enough good things about the store and staff!
I used to read comics by character, but now find I follow writers or artists, and the store staff has helped me keep up with current favorites, or find new creators to try out. I have been introduced to new titles like Paper Girls, because I liked Saga, or the Tom King writing on Vision and Batman, recommended to me as a fan of Grant Morrison.
I have also seen this level of expertise come to the aid of newer readers, such as the manager asking a new reader what kind of characters or stories they like, and then helping them find additional titles to try out. I have even seen coaching to help a younger reader stretch their budget, and spending time with them in the $0.50 books to find a complete run of a story arc.
The store has a great selection, and a nice flow through the massive two story set up! With a great selection of single issues, back issues, graphic novels and trades, as well as gaming, toys, t-shirts, Graham Crackers DeKalb has everything. Top it off with the incredibly knowledgable staff, who put an emphasis on their customer service, and you can't find a...
Read moreThis place is as close to a family as a business can be to me. I have been a loyal customer to the DeKalb Graham Cracker comics since 2003. I love this specific shop so much that I drive 1 hour semi monthly still to get my comics here even though I have a shop down the street. I cannot say enough positive things about the staff at this location. The manager Kevin is perhaps the nicest person ever to work at a comic store. He gets invested in his customers and always says hi to my son when he see us at conventions.
My last time in the shop there were two new employees Kevin hired and they could not have been more kind to my wife and son. The gentlemen helped my wife find comic books on the character Raven and my son find a Power Rangers book.
I've been coming to this shop for 14 years now and I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a comic shop that cares about their interests and are always happy to see you.
Thank you Kevin, you guys...
Read moreThe LACK of marshmallows and chocolate, and an open flame, was EXTREMELY disappointing. I expect way more from a graham cracker store. Maybe if you didn't have so many comics everywhere, you wouldn't be afraid of putting a propane-tank fire-pit in the middle of the store?!?! The store is two stories, so you even have an upper floor to put the fire-pit on because, DUH, smoke rises! It's like you chose this location specifically knowing you needed higher ground for the fire pit and STILL DIDN'T PUT ONE IN! WILL NOT shop at this location for SMORE'S related items.
The comic/toy/statue/poster/t-shirt selection was AWESOME, as was the staff. They'll even special order stuff they don't have, or grab it from one of their other stores which arrives even quicker than ordering from the publisher! If they wanted to be a COMIC store, they'd be doing a great job! BUT as a Smore store,...
