We purchased a gas dryer and needed to have it delivered. The product that was delivered was a propane dryer, not a gas dryer. We were told that they were going to get us a replacement and then would call us back. After waiting for 10 days due to the holidays, I called back myself. I was told to come in to the store to speak to the manager and he would take care of the issue himself. He told me that I could exchange the dryer and pay the difference. Nothing in the store met the specs of the dryer we purchased. When I said I wanted to return it, he said I would need to bring it in, or pay another delivery charge. I didn't want to pay $90 to not have a dryer, so I looked into the cost of converting the dryer to natural gas and wound up paying $171 to have this service done. The dryer still didn't work though because the igniter was broken and the flame sensor was missing. I was sold a "new" dryer with cosmetic damage that obviously was pre-owned and taken apart by the previous owner - maybe even used to salvage parts by Sears itself. I do not recommend anyone this store. After hours on the phone I have been told they would call me back so many times only to never hear from them again.
It is outrageous and I cannot recommend going elsewhere enough.
EDIT: Sears reached out to me after someone higher up got wind of my treatment. They offered to replace the dryer with one that they had in stock that would be closest to the one that I purchased. I accepted that and received a functioning dryer that had all the perks of the one that I had originally purchased and a few other bells and whistles. It is a nice dryer that was being sold for a little more than what I paid originally. This is the good news and why I improved the rating.
The bad: I was without a dryer for a whole month during this process which was very annoying and my wife was 9 months pregnant and due to give birth any time. The added stress and inability to dry clothes at home was not very appreciated. Furthermore, since we had already paid to have the propane dryer converted to a gas dryer (it didn't solve every issue because the first dryer was also missing a flame sensor which is why we accepted the trade in) the total out of pocket cost for everything came out to be nearly the same cost as the one they gave us . I am satisfied with the product, but I didn't want to spend this amount on a dryer and I certainly didn't want to wait a month.
I will say that the employees who delivered both dryers were top notch and they did do a lot to try and ease my frustrations. If you have a good deal and are willing to work with them if the product didn't live up to expectations, they are...
Read moreWent to Sears Outlet to buy new fridge. The prices were good and Ken, the salseman, was helpful. We paid for it, bought a new water line for the ice maker. We arranged for delivery and paid extra to have our old fridge removed. I specifically asked the salesman if the delivery people could hook up the new water line. He assured me they could. On the day of delivery I was at work and my wife was home to accept delivery. The delivery guys called me at work 1/2 hour prior to delivery, which is what I expected. They immediately asked me if I had it unhooked. I told them my wife had emptied the food from it. Then he asked if the water line was disconnected. I told him no, the salesman assured me the delivery guys could do it. The delivery man said no and asked if I or my wife could do it. I explained I was at work and my wife wasn't handy that way but he kept asking me. Frustrated, I told them to reschedule the delivery for when I was home. Prior to the second delivery date I unhooked the water and installed the new line all ready for delivery. Now here I am, waiting for the delivery guys. They were late, so I called the store and I asked when they were coming. I was told they were running late and would call me soon. That was almost an hour ago and no word. I complained to them that if they were running late they should have called. I got a weak apology from them but still no fridge. My wife is so mad she said we would never buy from them again. Still waiting.....😖. Update. The delivery guys finally showed up about 5pm. Were supposed to be here by 2:30pm. No apology from them. Fridge seems fine. Again, giving them only one star because even though the price was good, getting the thing delivered was a pain. I understand delays. I don't understand them not calling to let us know of the delay. Won't buy from them again. Sexond update. The assistant manager called to make sure everything went okay with the delivery and stated he talked to the delivery guys to remind me it was their policy to update customers about delivery delays. He delivery guys were fine but very quiet and not friendly. The assistant manager apologized for the delivery issues and offered me a few bucks back on my debit card. It made me feel a little better that they seemed to care, finally. I'll add another star to my review...
Read moreWe have purchased 3 appliances from American Freight in the past year. The first was a Whirlpool Microwave/convection oven. The fanciest we have ever owned! We recently bought a new Kitchen Aid Dishwasher also top of the line with stainless steel inside and three racks - super nice. A month ago we bought a brand new GE Refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom - we love it. Gosia was our sales lady and she was easy to work with and helpful. Sadly, yesterday the fridge started making a strange noise and it stopped cooling. It was still under the manufacturer’s warranty. Today, the GE repair guy came out and said that the compressor seized up. He said that it happens more often today because of the new refrigerant that is used which the government requires is not as good as the old stuff. The repair to replace the compressor was going to cost us $1,300! But it may have been covered by the manufacturer - the repairman suggested we call GE and beg for mercy. Well, my husband and I decided to drive over to American Freight to tell them what had happened. We prayed on the way that all would work out as good as possible. When we got there Tim and Jason said we could pick out an another fridge and they would deliver it to our house the next day and take away the one with the bad compressor. Praise the Lord! We are grateful that American Freight did the right thing and took care of the problem at no extra cost to us. They also transferred the warranty that we bought for the original fridge on to the new one we picked out today. We can now call the GE repair guy and cancel the repair. We will go back to American Freight we we are in need of a new appliance...
