My family of four recently switched from StraightTalk to Cricket Wireless because Cricket is one of the few companies that still uses AT&T towers, which are the only ones that work reliably in our area. While the service itself has been excellent, our experience with the Denison location was far from satisfactory.
The process of switching over to Cricket took nearly a week, during which I had to go without phone service for two days. Although they provided me with a free phone as compensation, it was one of the free phones they already offer, so it didn't feel like much of a gesture.
Less than three weeks after switching, my son's phone stopped charging. When my husband and son went to the store, the manager immediately checked the phone for water damage, which is understandable. However, she told my color-blind husband that the water damage indicator was slightly pink. Unable to verify this himself, he came home and informed me of the situation.
Given my experience with phones and computers, I used a digital microscope to examine the indicator myself. It was clearly white, not pink. I returned to the store and showed the manager my findings, even asking her to compare it with my daughter's phone, which is the same model. Despite the evidence, she insisted it was pink and refused to replace the phone, suggesting that if we had paid for insurance, she would have done so.
Frustrated, I visited another Cricket location in Sherman and asked their opinion on the indicator's color. All three employees there confirmed it was white, not pink. I am now working directly with Cricket to resolve this issue without any problems.
I highly recommend avoiding the Denison location if you plan to switch to Cricket Wireless. The service may be great, but the customer experience at this store was disappointing.
I have attached a photo of the actual indicator on my son's phone. If I am mistaken and it isn't white, I will update this review accordingly. She mentioned that the indicator was located in the corner, not the flat area, so I also provided a photo of the corner. However, there is no pink in the corner, and according to the phone's manufacturer, that isn't the correct place to check, it is the flat area is where the actual water damage indicator is located.
Update: phone was fixed by replacing battery...like I said. And absolutely no water damage anywhere on the inside when taken apart....
