Atomic Candy in Denton: A Candy Wonderland Where Fairies Come to Life

Atomic Candy is more than just a store—it’s a vibrant, whimsical haven filled with nostalgia, laughter, and more candy than you could ever imagine. The second you step through the doors, you’re greeted by walls lined with colorful treats, quirky oddities, and an energy that feels like a sugar rush brought to life. It’s the perfect place to embrace your inner child… or, if you’re like my brother Mitch, completely lose your dignity.

Now, let’s talk about Mitch. He wasn’t just any shopper that day—he was a walking spectacle, the unfortunate loser of a bet. A bearded man dressed in a pink tutu, feather boa, ballet slippers, white tights, and frilly, ruffled bloomers that peeked out with every twirl, he looked like a fairy ballerina. Add a flower delicately perched in his hair, and the scene was set for something truly unforgettable.

The staff at Atomic Candy were quick to jump in on the fun. Anytime someone said “tutu,” Mitch had to spin in place and proudly declare, “I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I’m a silly fairy!” It would have been embarrassing enough to do this once or twice, but they made sure it happened again and again, with Mitch twirling like a man obviously enjoying life a little too much being a very silly nutcracker fairy.

As if that wasn’t enough, they handed him a stick horse and sent him galloping up and down the aisles. His ruffled bloomers bounced with every step as he pranced through the store, reins in hand, looking equal parts ridiculous and weirdly committed to the role. The staff was loving every second, encouraging Mitch to keep going while laughing so hard they had tears in their eyes.

But the fun didn’t end there. They escorted Mitch outside and had him strike dramatic ballet poses right in front of the store, all while passersby paused to watch the spectacle unfold. Whether he was balancing on one foot, Mitch embraced every moment of public humiliation with an enthusiasm that was, frankly, suspiciously over-the-top. It was like he was actually loving and enjoying being Mitch the Fairy Ballerina.

To top it off, the staff said that his antics would end up online 🤞

He still deliveries to make in his full ballerina gear, we’re all hoping Atomic Candy invites him back!

Atomic Candy isn’t just a store; it’s an experience. Between the nostalgic candies, quirky decor, and a staff that’s all-in on the fun, you’re guaranteed to leave with a smile (and possibly a few stories you’ll never live down). Whether you’re shopping for sweets or just hoping to catch a fairy ballerina galloping through the aisles, this place is a must-visit. 10/10 would...

Very strange encounter with atomic candy and their management. In reporting an incident via google review, myself and another person (whom I will not name in the sake of their privacy) were harassed VIA FACEBOOK. to recap: upon reviewing the store negatively, the manager or, the person we were referring to in the review (KATRINA), took it upon themselves to SEARCH OUR NAMES and find our facebook pages where my friend was CORRECTED in our behavior saying we were wrong with what we were posting because that was not how the situation played out. I am beyond appalled and only hope to remind atomic candy that the customer is always right and that better business pracitices protect against negative customer reviews, not hounding those who were...

Nice place to visit, but this is one candy store where you can get an otherwise cheap (mere handful) of candy, and end up finding a good wound your wallet. To see people spending sixty dollars or more on a bag & a few bars of candy, turns the initially comical and fun atmosphere a little red......yes, with pain. It's then apparent why the oblivious children seem happy (to start) but many parents do not...once the bill comes in. I wish I had pics of all the shocked looks at that cute little counter :.

They simply can't keep these prices and claim a healthy conscience. :) But hey, you're paying for the novelty...right?

But being closed on Sunday means that they lose quite a lot of business from the all people I...

Cool retro candy shop in Denton Square; carries everything from old favorites to interesting oddities such as bacon-flavored and chocolate-flavored sodas. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy some candy, and the flavor selection in the soda fridges will have you coming back to try another! Staff was polite and friendly in my experience.
