Took a stop in to Plot Twist in Denton, TX and as an avid reader, I could not wait to be in a space for fantasy and romance.
The shop is well structured and makes great use out of the space they have. When you enter, to both your left and right there is a selection of merchandise items. There are also stands in the middle of the store with gift-able items and I snagged myself a keychain (see photo, IYKYK).
The wall of books gave beauty and the beast library vibes, minus the ladder as the shelves were floor to ceiling. On this particular day, although I did have a good time browsing what was available, there was quite a lot of empty space and partial series. The top two rows of the shelves were bare and (at least displayed) there were only a few of each book, ex. They only had 1/3 Crecent Cities, 1/8 Throne of Glass, and maybe two or three copies of any given book.
There is a very aesthetically pleasing lounge in the back with super comfortable chairs, tables and a fire place.
The bar is cute with fun drinks and the staff was friendly. Decor is on point and felt very welcoming.
Overall, a great visit and would love to continue to buy my books from here rather than Amazon or B&N. I do hope with continued growth, they will have a wider selection and fill the shelves. -1 star for the lack of books.
Glad I made the trip, and will definitely make...
Read moreAfter exploring several bookshops around Texas, I just had to check out this new store located right in the center of Denton Square. I was really looking forward to it out since its so close, by and having a bar there is definitely a touch!
This is my first impression-
The shop had a limited selection on hand; Mainly stocked duplicate copies of the 2nd or 3rd in a series; Furthermore the staff didn't appear willing to assist in ordering items that were not in stock. Another aspect that bothered me was the lack of organization, in how the books were displayed; they seemed placed on the shelves without any system. Perhaps this disarray was intended to add to the stores charm. It didn't quite resonate with me. I bought a book I had been searching for and picked up a few stickers as well! Sadly though the their name sake sticker couldn't withstand water; Ended up bleeding when wet, which was quite disappointing since I enjoy putting stickers on my hydro jug.
I also think the store could have improved the lounge area by adding books to create a fantasy section that would complement its ambiance and make better use of the space instead of leaving it as wasted; Has potential if blending a lounge with...
Read moreCame for the soft opening and the store is absolutely charming! It focuses on romance books and there are plenty to choose from, even if you don't consider yourself a romance book reader primarily, there's tons of subgenres so there's sure to be something to spark your interest. They also have a wide variety of bookish accessories (bookmarks, stickers, hair scrunchies, bags, shirts, ereader decor, etc.) and a lounge area in the back that's super cozy and inviting. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable while allowing you time to browse without hovering or being pushy. My favorite bookshelf sections are the local authors and the staff pick highlights. You can tell a lot of love went into this place and the people who work here truly enjoy what they do. Looking forward to the official grand opening and maybe trying out the bar...
