I want to make it known that we were showing up within the last 30min of them being open, which I normally don't like to do and feel terrible about. We also kept offering to take it to go since they were closing soon and we didn't wanna hold them up. My partner and I went in to give them a shot since we've never been and they're brand new to the square. I'm pretty new to a lot of Indian food as well so I went in with an open mind as a pretty picky eater.
We asked if it was too late to dine in and they assured us we were fine. The first waitress that took my order was, in my opinion, a bit aggressive and unwelcoming with how I was treated personally (my partner was treated fine). I've never had biryani before and wasn't in the mood for curry. I tried asking what was in it because I just like to know all that's going into my food before I order. I kept asking for what was IN IT and she just kept saying "what do you want to eat". Feeling extremely overwhelmed and uncomfortable I just said Naan since that was the only thing I knew I'd like. It felt like they were upset with us for not knowing what we'd want and I felt judged for not knowing what biryani was.
They sent out another waitress to help us who was a LOT more informative and friendly about taking our order. I wound up getting their veg biryani (mild heat) and was honestly not impressed by the taste. Their naan on the other hand was some of the best I've ever had! My partner really liked his food and the staff were nice to comp my meal since I didn't enjoy it. I appreciated the 2nd waitress being so understanding that it was my first time trying the dish. The original waitress also seemed a bit friendlier towards the end when we were leaving, but I just overall felt very uncomfortable with the whole experience.
Overall just not a great first experience. I will not be returning, but my partner might come back on his own since he liked it.
Side note: the location is quite nice looking but it really needs some decor to brighten the place up! I really hope they get to add in some fun art or lovely plants to bring the...
Read morePricey, and super spicey. As major fans of Indian cuisine, my family recently decided to try Namaste, since they're now part of the DoorDash program. Spent about $50, and received what's shown in the picture (please note that the small apple was added for scale). The order includes 2 entrees (1 of which was substituted with no reduction in price, and only included a single bed of rice), some bread, and a dessert. So the bang for our buck was already lacking in this experience to the point that I felt compelled to include a food photo in a review for the first time in order to show the small serving sizes. Then we sat down to eat, and discovered food which was nearly inedible due to a high level of spice. I've eaten at many Indian joints around the metroplex. I cook Indian food at home (both from scratch, and the pre-packaged stuff). I'm also typically a fan of spice, having tried the hottest Hot Ones sauces, as well as taken on the One Chip Challenge. This food, however, tasted as though someone had taken Madras curry, and thrown in a helping of The Last Dab hot sauce. So it suffices to say that this is not for newcomers to Indian food, or for those who don't like VERY hot foods. Adding to the challenge presented by this spiciness is the fact that there are no options to reduce spice levels, or side sauces like Tamarind Chutney to temper what's on offer. The flavor of the Tikka was pleasant, as was the scent of the rice (note that there are whole cloves in it), but I would not pay money to experience this food a second time. The naan was nothing worth raving about, though its serving size was at least adequate. And the dessert was lackluster. The literal cubing of the chicken further detracts from the food's appeal. Also, I'm not a fan of the large bell pepper chunks in their Tikka Masala. On the bright side, there is some promise with this restaurant, and most of what I'd count as downsides are easily resolved. Still, I've no intention of trying their food again. One foray into the fire was...
Read moreThe food was my favorite part of my dining experience. So tasty! I shared the Korma, samosa, and vindaloo with a friend. We both preferred the chicken korma, but both were delicious.
The waitress warned that the chicken korma had chicken bones in it, which was fine. The vindaloo also had bones in it, so it was odd she didn’t warn about that one as well. They both tasted amazing, but felt skimpy on chicken. The samosas were okay; much better with the green sauce (I’ve forgotten the exact name). Without the sauce there wasn’t much flavor to them.
I loved the dishes used to serve the food, however, the odd mixture of plastic and paper serving dishes tainted the overall vibe. The samosas were served in a concession stand style paper basket, and the sauce was served in a to go ramekin. Our friends fried rice, which was split, was served in a plastic to go container while the curry and rice we ordered was served in these beautiful and unique serving dishes. The mix was weird. Water was served at room temperature and in bottles at the table; I would’ve preferred chilled water at the very least.
We dined with two other friends, who received their fried rice about 15 minutes after the curries and samosas were served. They sat and watched us eat since we had a hot food item. I didn’t like that at all. The service overall was rather slow; we had to go up to the waitress to request the check after we were very obviously done eating.
The bathroom smelled awful. There is a sign requesting to keep the door closed, and I’m sure it’s to keep the smell of sewage from wafting into the restaurant. It didn’t smell like a temporary thing from someone dropping the kids off at the pool, it smelled like a plumbing issue. I’m glad I didn’t go to the restroom before eating as that may have spoiled my appetite.
I’ll definitely be returning for the food, likely just...
