Altitude Steel — Local services in Denver

If you are looking for very common material and are patient, I guess it might be worth the time. But the service is horrible. I always understand that a salvage yard will never have the same level of service as full retail but it is no excuse for their bad attitude.

After finding what I was looking for in their used section, I asked for help (which took 20 minutes to find). The first young man had an eager attitude and was willing to ask someone open the bundle that contained the steel I wanted. After waiting another 15 minutes or so his manager cam accross the street and said they would not sell me the steel. He did not offer an alternative like "we'll have that available Friday" or any alternative, just an unexplained "No". Obviously these guys think they have enough business and do not need more. Horrible service! As a company we placed an order for steel lintels, we arrived to pick up the order and the lintels were cut wrong size. Altitude Steel charged my card anyway for their mistake. We placed the order again making sure that they had the exact measurements correct. We had been in communication with the store and we were set to pick them up. We arrived for pick up just to be told that they just received the steel. They didn’t follow through with communication, so we in turn could communicate with our customers.

COMMUNICATION! COMMUNICATION, COMMUNICATION! What is so difficult about this!? I would recommend that Altitude Steel seek help in this area. As a customer, we aren’t asking for anything difficult! Get it together! Your customers depend on that...

To be honest I avoided coming to Altitude and opted for DenCol instead based on the reviews. I couldn't have been more wrong. I went to altitude and the girl behind the desk (who I assume is the same as the others ran into as it's a family business) was very kind and very helpful. I came in with about 15 minutes left of time they were "open" the guys in the yard helped walk me through what they had how they had it organized and steered me towards buying from their remnants saving me probably a couple hundred bucks when I was just heading to their new stock immediately. They helped me weigh it out and were happy to make any cuts I needed on the spot. They couldn't have made the experience better for me and I'll be back as often as I need more metal. My new...
