A perfect example of how distributor consolidation across the country has killed customer service in this industry. These guys will bend over backwards to service and supply national chains, all the while, thumbing their nose at small businesses like mine. Case in point, I am limited to bi-weekly ordering. Now, I do understand that they need to maximize efficiency and therefore profits, but here is the kicker. There is another bar and a liquor store in my building. They both get weekly delivery, and I know for a fact the bar does less volume than I do. So, every other week, while I am not allowed to place and order, their truck literally drives by my front door to exit the parking lot. I have contacted my rep and pointed out how insane it is that the truck is literally within 100 feet of my front door every week, but I can only order every other week. He tells me there is nothing he can do about it the issue. The logistics people have deemed that bi-weekly ordering is saving them money. This is only one example of the poor customer service they provide. I have had orders cancelled to less than minimum order quantity, when it was there out of stocks that dropped me below my minimum. When I opened for business, some distributors were at my door day one with signage, bar supplies, order guides, coasters, etc... Breakthru didn't show up until I called to complain. She asked a supervisor, but they are very busy inside and so no, not today. There were a lot of trucks when I arrived around 7:30, and it did seem like they unloaded those trucks pretty quickly. There is a Starbucks and a Taco place within walking distance for sure. The young lady I spoke with was very polite and professional. So, I hope maybe tomorrow I will...
Read moreBreakthru Beverage is a very sketchy company that operates like a cartel because it has a monopoly on liquor distribution in Illinois. There is extreme corruption within the company that leads to allocated items that consumers want ending up in the hands of profiteers and people who are friends with the upper management of the company. They also distribute a disproportionate amount of the allocated items to companies like grocery stores, dive bars, Italian restaurants, etc. who have no reason to sell it and end up selling it to profiteers.
If you go year after year without ever being able to so much as lay eyes on a bottle of allocated bourbon that you hear about like it's the stuff of legends, it's because Breakthru Beverage has rigged the distribution of it from the start so that bourbon lovers never even...
