Came with 12 people yesterday on a brewery tour. Black Sky was our 2nd stop and before we spent a dollar we were all kicked out of the bar by a blond guy with long hair that seemed to take issue with our energy when we walked in. There were only two people inside the brewery when we arrived, the vibe was somber, and I think Poison was streaming through the speakers. I mistakenly had an outside beer. I actually had a delicious beer canned from Renegade brewing as a travel beer on my bike as we traversed to Black Sky and had yet to throw it out. The sad, basic, blond dude working the bar let me know that no outside alcohol was allowed in the bar and I said it was my intent to finish ordering and to throw it out in a trash receptacle. There was already much attitude coming from him as we were discussing the food and drinks we intended to order. Instant attitude as we started to interact. After I threw my beer away into their trash he said I wasn’t welcome in the establishment any longer due to initially bringing in the open can of beer. When I initially protested his request he quickly pivoted and insisted everyone in my bike and brews party leave. Our whole party was in the establishment for less then 5 minutes. I can’t comment on the beer or pizza, both of which I’ve heard good reports, because we weren’t given the opportunity. I’ve also heard the owners/head brewers are good dudes which makes this even more irritating. I hope this is a isolated issue but suspect it’s not. I do not recommend this business based on our interactions and they will not benefit from my patronage in the future.

Some employees are best suited for back of the house operations. Good beer and pizza wouldn’t overcome this employee that Black sky has...

My favorite pizza in Denver!

Updating this review based on my most recent visit. Black Sky has been my wife and I's favorite place to grab pizzas several years running. Our experience has been fantastic every time we visited, up until today. We're moving out of town, and this was one of our "before we move bucketlist" items. We started off our visit with a lovely experience with a blond person who was a delight to interact with. Their shift was ending so another gentleman with long dark hair took over bar service. When they started working, the first thing I noticed about them is that they were stoned out of their gourd (I'm not one to judge, but you gotta be functional while you're working). Not a single time did this person ask if he could get us anything. He spent the first 15 minutes of our interactions dumping his spiritual mumbo jumbo on us instead of being a server. He then got distracted with new people walking and served 3 groups of people walking in before we finally had to shout to get his attention to order drinks and food.

Additionally, he paid a whole lot of attention to my wife, while completely avoiding eye contact with me. This was extremely awkward and rude.

We were in a hurry in a bar that was empty when we walked in, and we received some of the worst service I've ever gotten. Not only was the bartender self absorbed and rude, but made me very uncomfortable at the same time. His eyes were more glazed than a highschool kid blazing their first blunt, and he couldn't even function. Maybe he should spend some of his meditation time reflecting on how he behaves around...

so, my name is Erin and twice a year i put together a Bike n’ Brew group consisting of anywhere between 4 and 20 people…we jump on our bikes and spend the day hitting breweries and having a great time…Saturday, 10/14 was the 7th one and instead of RiNo, we decided to do Broadway

Black Sky was our second stop and having been an 80’s heavy metal kid, i was super stoked to hang out there, try the beers, try the food and get a sticker or two for the yeti…

13 of us walked in and before i could even get from the front door to the bar, the bartender kicked ALL of us out over a discrepancy he had with one of us…as far as i know only 2-3 of us had any contact with him at all, so it’s completely unacceptable for him to ask all of us to leave for NO REASON…

i was not able to hear the conversation he had with the member of my party he had an issue with but considering we went on to visit Renegade, Trve, Baer, Banded Oak and Cerebral that day with NO ISSUES, i can only assume your employee did not want to serve a party of our size with our energy…

bummer for your business, as the 13 of us would’ve dropped a ton of money there and there were only 2 other people in the entire place when we walked in…

one of our group had met the owners at GABF and sent us a picture with them, so the experience was even that much more disappointing…

just wanted to give my two cents as this was by far the worst experience i’ve ever had at a...

Got a pizza with onion and jalapeno, a bunch of brews. Everything was fantastic. The pizza was so good - very fresh onion and jalapeno. You can use hot sauces that they make - the garlic red was my favorite. The bloodsucker ale is made with beets and apples, and I loved it but if you dont like beets, dont get it as the taste comes through. Because I love beets, I found this beer earthy and drinkable. Also tried the spiritual sesh (my favorite - complex and sweet), petal to the metal (tastes like spring - very floral), beer hammer (very sweet, very very strong, almost like if whiskey and mead made a baby), el colorado chile (light and garden forward), and cluster fux (light, effervescent, citrusey and cider-like). Service here was great and charming, as well as the art and music. I highly recommend for people who want a humble, genuine place and a great time. I had an exceptional time.

You guys. I haven't even finished my food and beer yet and I had to leave a review because I think I'm in heaven. First timers from out of state and I'm jealous I don't have the ease of visiting weekly. (Or more - have you seen their lunch specials?!) If the beer and food aren't enough to draw you in, come for Dan, 'cause he's amazing too. Thanks for the great experience!! And your merch rocks, so you know we'll be reppin' ya'll in Illinois! (P.s. check out that chicken on the pizza... like, seriously.... this is coming from a vegan, y'all.) šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘ Round 2, five months later.... This place made such an impact I would almost come to Denver *just* to eat and drink here. Service is 1000%, beer is delicious, food is phenomenal. This time we split an order of garlic knots & a calzone (both sans cheese). šŸ˜‹šŸ„°

Our first Denver brewery, and we were not disappointed! I'll try to keep this as brief as possible. Atmosphere is dope. As a teenage metalhead, the music and decor (bonus points for displaying local art!) gave me a heaping serving of nostalgia. Plus the merch is awesome and on prominent display. Service is excellent. Super knowledgeable and friendly staff. Beers are on point! Was impressed by the fact that not only does this brewery come with a full bar, but their creative shots (hot beef injection for life) are really good too. Lastly, the food! Their pizza is ungodly delicious, as are their rolls and sandwiches. The chili is fire, and hell, even their salad is ridiculous. An easy five stars all across the board.
