I've been going to this gym for about four months now, and I can confidently say that this is the best gym I have gotten to attend. I've never been very athletic, but I wanted to be, and after graduating from college I floated around various gyms to try and get serious about lifting. I'm generally pretty shy and self-conscious, and I felt out of place at every gym I tried, and being gay didn't help that. Muscle + Mindset is different, though. Coach Amanda was welcoming from the first time I met her, and all the other coaches are equally as friendly. When I got to start training, I saw that the programming was both fun and challenging, and every few weeks we get to try different things. Coach Amanda is not only extremely knowledgeable but also encouraging, and repeatedly reminds me that I am stronger than I think; that confidence has helped me tremendously. There's also the community at the gym, which had proven to be thoroughly supportive and kind. No one makes me feel different or unwelcome. In fact, I feel so little self-consciousness working out alongside people who can lift twice my body weight that I almost forgot I was scared of going to the gym at all just a few months ago. Not to get super sappy, but it feels a little transformative. I didn't think I'd ever be able to find a gym that wouldn't always make me little nervous to workout in, but Muscle + Mindset is that place. Truly, I couldn't be more grateful to this gym and...
Read moreWent in with a client to document a session for her Client and I both tried to contact owners or management to no avail, came in to manager no where to be found. As I was filling my water bottle a woman approached me very aggressively asking if I was with a member. Which seems rhetorical as the front doors are locked and would obviously need to come in with a member. Said woman then began to address my client in the most unprofessional way I’ve ever witnessed. Inappropriate tone and body language toward the both of us 1) before I even said anything, 2) when my client was being kind and understanding and trying to listen. We didn’t get a word in befor the terrible attitude and unwillingness to communicate overflowed from her mouth. Who ever this woman was IN FRONT OF ME told my client “it’s not that I don’t think you’re great we just want a certain type of people in here” Yikes. Not only does that sound awful to people who want to be fit and healthy but it is never a way to talk to a client ESPECIALLY one who’s not being aggressive AND WHOS MONEY YOU ALREADY HAVE TAKEN. Not all things work out and that’s okay. But your acting manager was completely out of line and probably could use a training course on customer service and MINDSET. She escalated before my client could even get over to the water fountain to say “she’s with me”. I shoot competition lifters every season and know exactly where not...
Read moreI have been a member of Muscle&Mindset for over a year. Joining this gym has been a fantastic decision! I had been doing CrossFit for a decade and started to become more interested in Olympic weightlifting. The coaching and programming is the best I have had. It’s very challenging but also fun. They use new technology apps to track your performance and training sessions so you can meet your goals. I have enjoyed the training and have improved my overall strength but also technique. If you are looking to get strong but also learn the technical mechanics of lifting, this is your gym. Also, I cannot say enough about the culture that Amanda and her team have fostered. You will feel like part of the team from day 1 and there are always fun gym activities going on. Come in and...
