My truck broke down at the intersection before the shop a few minutes before closing. The two older gentlemen that were working were a huge help, and also gave me contact info for a few local mechanics.

The downfall to my experience took place when the owner came at check out and charge me $7.50 for a few bolts that were only about $3. The employees looked at each other and I looked at him with a questioning look. Word for word he said " Welcome to Hershey on a Friday afternoon".

One of the few old-time hardware stores in the area, I've watched many of the others disappear over the years. Unlike the big box stores, you get somebody's attention the minute you walk in the door. If by some chance they don't happen to have what you're looking for (which has only happened once or twice in my experience) they'll give you some pretty good pointers as to who might have it. Nice employees, good selection, clean store. Sells individual screws/bolts without plastic wrapping. Prices are slightly higher than Lowe's, but the selection of brands is completely different (not limited to e.g. Kobalt/Craftsman/DeWalt for tools, or WD40/BLaster for lubricant). Their raw materials are closer to an Ace Hardware than a Lowe's, with things like metal rods, short aluminum L beams, and an enormous cut-to-length...
