Des Moines Waterfront Farmers Market — Local services in Des Moines

I had a great time at the Des Moines farmer's market with my kids. Got fresh raspberries for $6 a pint from Sidhu farms which my kids loved. You can get 6 1/2 pints of choices of raspberries, blackberries or blueberries. Stop by the information booth and you can get a 2hr parking voucher. We love the fish basket taco truck they have waffle fries for $3 a side. The tacos and sandwiches are great. I did not like the calamari though, too crunchy and the amount was not enough for a meal. The habanero sauce is great! There are great kid friendly activities like face painting, occasionally will have balloon artists, games, mobile library or art activities. Even after the farmer's market is done (2pm) you can walk along the marina, look at boats, go on the beach or have a picnic at the park next door. Great little farmers market, open Saturday from 10-2p... paid parking at the marina but plenty of free parking up the hill. Since market at marina parkin lot, amazing scenery. For a smaller local farmers market, it had a great variety of vendors, all really friendly. Been going to market for years, good variety of vendors (fresh fruits and veggies, crafts, bakery, breads, caramel, hot sauces, kettle popcorn, local beer and wine tasting, jewelry, fresh cheeses, honey, flowers/bouquet, and food vendors/trucks. Right now they have the strawberry bing & Rainier cherries, better than the normal. I tried a newer dim sum vendors, had the shrimp/pork shu mai (really good, big shrimp pieces with the pork), chicken sticky rice (ready good), bbq pork (good) and red bean steamed hum bow (it was good, my wife didn't...

I went to farmer's market at the waterfront & got a validation from the Market booth. It should not take 20mins to get out of parking. When I entered my validation the machine wouldn't scan my parking ticket afterward. Nobody answered the call button after 4 tries to get a question answered. After cancelling everything on the machine I tried again and if finally scanned both bar codes. This isn't my first time using this system but the attendants that helped out before that may still be necessary. During the afternoon when the sun is on the west side of the sky, it becomes impossible to see the red scan lines inside those parking...
