⛵🐚🌊This is home away from home. I've been going here for decades and it's always going to be that special place I go to as it holds a special place in my heart. There's just something magical about the Des Moines Marina ✨💕 it's got a nice pier where you can fish !w/license of course) and watch the boat come and go from the marina. You'll see all kinds of aquatic and mammal life. We've seen seals fishing and making a close appearance, blue herons chilling by the side, flying over or perched in a tree, lots of very domestic ducks, and Canadian geese who have quite the personalities 🦆🦆. There is the Des.Moines Creek Trail which is 2 miles long one way and comes out on 200th street near SCORE jail, and 2 miles back to the marina; parking on both ends. There's a cute little pond area where the ducks fly in and dive land and that is their safe haven 😊. There's a decent sized grassy areas you can set up volley ball net on the north side. It's perfect for laying in the sun, doing yoga, throwing frisbee or letting the fur babies or human babies run free 😄😉. Definitely dog friendly. Non smoking/Non barbecue site. When the tide is out there is lots of beach to walk on and plenty of shells, rocks and other finds along the way. Then there's the who other part where the dock and boats are and that's a nice walk along there too, they've recently added a new portable style spot to grab a bite/drink and chill near the boats, alcoholic beverages served there. The marina also has many events happening so be sure to check into future events and make this a spot to visit when you come to town, it's a beautiful place and you'll get good vibes and good smells there....
Read moreExtremely awful experience with my friend’s wedding reception here at this event center.
The couple put together a slideshow with music to be used as a countdown for the entrance of the bride and groom, only to be told THE DAY OF that no sound would be coming from the projector, rendering the slideshow, which took several hours to make, completely pointless. They ended up scrapping the entire entrance because of this and it made the start very awkward.
The worst part was the fact that there was a major windstorm the day before, and the wifi was completely shutdown and nonfunctional, and we were also not told this until the day of. The DJ they hired for the reception couldn’t get his music to work because he required wifi and there was no other signal whatsoever to power his own equipment. Therefore also rendering a major part of the reception useless. There was no first dance or dance at all. At this point I started to feel second-hand embarrassment and sadness for my newly married friends.
We were told by a staff member that was present at the event that we would be receiving a refund for both the wifi and the slideshow since both were out of our control, yet when our team brought this up with the owner of the facility, they deemed the refund not “worthy”. Absolutely...
Read moreIt's a beautiful park right on the Puget Sound in the heart of Des Moines, Wa. It has a full-service marina, Anthonys HomePort which is an excellent well-known restaurant right on the water and the very south end of the marina, for excellent steak and seafood. There are trails for walking, biking rollerblading, walking the dog, a huge clean grassy area for the kids, or to just lay a blanket down and have a picnic. You can rent halls here for weddings, company parties, birthday parties etc. Very peaceful and clean place to come alone, or with the entire family. The trails are all blacktop. You can bring your kites and fly them on the beach if the tide is out. They also have a really long pier for fishing or just want to take a stroll and enjoy the sunsets. An amazing view of Vashon Island. There is no camping in the park. They've covered areas to barbeque. One of the finer parks to enjoy that is on the Puget Sound. Highly recommended. You can park for free in the marina parking lot, they now charge for parking in the back parking lot of the Park. The walk is very close even if you parked in the Marina and...
