My review is based upon the school aspect of the program. I was one of the first Esthetician students to go through and pass the program. The studies here were great. Ashley’s knowledge of the material was phenomenal. She did a great job with delivery of the information and I had no problem passing my state board exam.
PROS: She works with you to ensure the material is understood. The location is convenient and right off the freeway. The class times are conducive for a working adult. The starter kit provided was a great gesture to get students prepared. She makes the training fun; not all the subjects and topics were dry. Payment plans are available so you don’t have to come out of pocket right off. The classroom and service area is very clean, quiet, and presentable. The material provided assisted with passing the state board exam. There is some flexibility when it comes to absences.
CONS: The door to the building requires someone to open it each time you come to class. There were some growing pains (as the school portion is brand new) with COVID and determining the in class and virtual learning conflicts (I was told to come to class when COVID rules would have allowed for Virtual learning according to TDLR). Ensure you have an understanding of what days you are required to be at school in person and which days are virtual. I was first told I would only have to come to class one day a week but then as transitions started I ended up having to go Monday through Thursday (physically) and having to pay childcare (which was unexpected but since I was already vested financially into the program I went on and finished). This was one of the main reasons for the 3 star rating. I ended up being out of an extra thousand dollars paying for child care since I had the understanding I would only be in class one day a week and ultimately that was not the case. UPDATE: I have to go back and speak to the class atmosphere because I fail to do so before. Ashley’s classroom atmosphere is a whole vibe. Earlier I mentioned how I was frustrated paying the extra childcare but I guess just having a real cool environment to learn in made going to school that much easier…..sip n paint, Calm music while we act like we are studying at our own pace, the spontaneous “go homes” that you need because it’s been a long week, and the free beauty trials on the skin and just showing us new and trending things in the skincare and beauty industry. So-I definitely think overall the positives aspects of the course outweigh my own negative experiences. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing!!!!!!
I would, however, recommend this school as opposed to a larger school because the training is more in depth, specialized, and the student can receive more attention because the student/teacher...
Read moreMost of the reviews here are from students of the school. I am writing a review on the service that I received at the school. I went in to get lash extensions. While I understand that you will lose lashes each day, I got the hybrid set and lost 2 of the clusters/flares the same day. Since the lashes were clusters/flares it is very noticable. I'll called the school back and left a message. I received a text from someone saying that I could come in for them to take a look. She told me to come in at 11:30am on Thursday, the text was sent on Tuesday. I asked her/him (they didn't give me a name) if I could come in at a different time because I had an appt at noon on Thursday. I didn't get a response, I texted again and asked if they had any other available times, still no response. I ended up booking with a professional company to have them filled in. I understand this is a school and the students are still learning, but they also need to learn about repeat business. If I go out and write negative Google reviews about the bad service it is going to make the school look bad. I tried to give them a chance but not responding is not professional at all and that should be part of the...
Read moreThis school has definitely changed my life for the better. I was able to be myself here. You don't have to hold your breath, you find your place. I gained friendships, and I learned so so much about the beauty industry that I came to love with a passion!
Ms. Ashley, the CEO and Owner of B.K.A. is very knowledgeable and shows her passion in the beauty industry through the way she instructs and interacts with her students. Ms.Angela is very personible and kindhearted as a person and an instructor. Ms.Angela helped keep my head up and gave me the tools I needed to become more confident in explaining myself and in school and interactions with clients you gain in school. Thank you both, you guys REALLY helped me!
So if your looking for instructors with years of experience in teaching and can be personable with you. A welcoming environment and a chill atmosphere.
