I have been horse riding a handful of times and this has been by far the best experience I have ever had! My family and I couldn’t decide whether to do the Scenic Farm Ride or the River Ride but we decided on the River Ride and I couldn’t have imagined anything more exhilarating.
If you are worried about how wet you may get, the most we got wet was up to our calves. So not a half body submersion or anything like that. Also, the entire ride wasn’t all in the river as well. It was a beautiful scenic ride to the river, and a beautiful scenic ride back to the stables. But honestly, you get a 2 in 1 experience choosing the River Ride in my opinion!
Our guide was absolutely AMAZING! She offered to take photos of my family and I while in the river and also made great conversation overall.
It did start to drizzle while we were on our ride but the horses remained very calm and we continued our ride effortlessly. All in all, if you are thinking about booking, BOOK! The scenic views are breathtaking, the river was calming, our guide was fabulous, and the horses themselves are well trained and have personality! My horse Griffin hated the mud and avoided it at his own pace haha! 10/10...
Read moreWe went to the stables for my 8 year old daughter's first ride. The experience was horrible. The horses were being kept in a small enclosure in numbers way too large for the small space, the paddock look to have not been cleaned out in at least a week, as there was defecate all over. The horses were overridden with flys biting them in the eyes, as no fly shields were in use. The horses could barely move around in the paddock as there were so many horses in it. The horses could desperately use a currying brush. On top of all of this, I scheduled a parent led ride for after three PM, and arrived at 3:05 PM only to find that the ant had shut up everything and left for the day. As a former horse farm employee the conditions that I saw were horrendous. The only good experience was the barn cat that really seemed to like my daughter, as it rubbed all over her and lavished in the petting it...
Read moreMy 7 yr old daughter and I had a wonderful time on the one hour river ride with Kayla and Mariah as our guides! I had ridden at the Dillard House as a child but it was even more magical than I remembered. Kayla was such a fantastic guide- she pointed out the native plants and described how they are used by the Cherokees. Mariah was so helpful as she rode behind me and checked my feet placement and told me when to lean. She also dismounted her horse in the river and took pictures of us! Very impressive young woman! Our horses, Nico & Moose, were so sweet and good at their jobs. I felt absolutely safe and comfortable. And I had the utmost confidence that my daughter was safe. We will definitely be back. Can't wait until my youngest daughter can ride with us, too.
Tip: call to make a reservation because they don't always have all the rides listed on the website...
