Planet Fitness — Local services in Doral

I am very unpleased to write a negative review regarding this gym. I have been coming to this location for over a year and I live about 20 minutes away but I manage to always go regardless of the distance. For the past few months, Jaqueline (personal trainer of this location) has been extremely rude and unprofessional towards me and other friends I have bought to this gym. She looks at you with a very bad face while you are completing exercises which is very intimidating and judgmental considering this is a “no judgement zone” from the own very staff. Today I have canceled my membership as she refused to share the gym machines with other members of the gym, ONLY for the people she’s trains even when they aren’t currently using it. I work as a night shift nurse at a hospital and after work I go to the gym before going home, she made the people she was training not let me or my gym partners use the machines and sit in the machines without using them because we refused to not leave and waited for them to finish. Making me take longer to get home to rest purposely because I didn’t back away from completing my workout. Besides this, she recorded me speaking with the manager about the situation, spoke to me with attitude, got in my face, called me ugly girl, and told the people she was training to confront me and intimidate me for informing the manager about the situation. While speaking to the manager several member of the club were also complaining about Jacqueline (personal trainer). The manager was very nice and understanding regarding the situation. After a less than stellar experience at another location, visiting the Planet Fitness in Festival Plaza, Miami, FL, was a breath of fresh air. This facility boasted a clean environment with reasonably attentive staff, making it a much more welcoming space for a workout.

The gym itself felt upgraded, and while the elliptical runners featured the latest models, they were limited to those with fixed arms. The movable arm machines were still the older versions, which was slightly disappointing but not a complete deal breaker for me.

One significant downside was the music volume within the gym. It was so loud that it interfered with my own in-ear music, which was quite distracting during my workout. Another issue was the lax enforcement of rules in the circuit training section. Several people were camping out on equipment, which disrupted the flow and forced me to perform my exercises out of the intended order. Considering the circuit section is directly visible from the front desk, better management of this area should be feasible.

Despite these drawbacks, the overall cleanliness and staff demeanor at this location were commendable. It’s a solid choice for anyone in the Miami area looking for a reliable gym, as long as you’re prepared to deal with high-volume music and some potential waiting during...

I’ve been a member for a while, but it’s come to the point that I really hesitate deciding whether to go or not because of the staff, the lack of enforcement on safety practices, and how little they seem to care...

The staff - usually on their phone, rarely ever acknowledge you, and when they do it feels you’re a nuisance to them. I’ve had to go up to them so many times to tell them there aren’t towels to wipe down machines while they’re just texting away...

The lack of enforcement of Covid-19 practices - again, the staff is too busy on their phones rather than doing a lap and making sure people are complying wearing a mask properly, or else why is there a sign at the door? They used to (sometimes) check temperature before going in, now they don’t at all. They came to me once to put my small bag away, and I was glad they did because at least they’re enforcing one policy, but apparently can’t do the same to keep people safe in the midst of a pandemic. Some other regulars I’ve come to notice rarely ever wear a mask, let alone wipe down their equipment after using it, and they continue to get away with it...
