What would have been a five star review is now knocked down and it's too bad because this was definitely becoming the spot for my dad, brother and friends to play at. The tables are great here, they keep them up because of all the tournament play that happens here. Fair pricing. There's a lot of action toward the evening hours. The wings are surprisingly good for a pool hall, better than some pizza places I've had. They have a jukebox if you feel like being DJ. I had some good songs going that better people were vibing out too, So far this place was winning.
And then the manager or whoever he was said we had to pack in because suddenly a league game was about to start. We had started to settle in: a second picture was already ordered, we had barley gotten our wings order for the table, and we had a tab running and now we were hurried out there. There was no guarantee of a new table but the league suddenly needed this table to start.
It would have been cool if before we ordered our food and second pitcher they would have told us not to because of an impending league game instead of being told to give up our table. It's kind of off putting this happened as we were happy paying customers. Bad communication and a lack of transparency really clouded this experience here. Not protesting the league play at all, it is what it is, but let your patrons know they pay for a table. We weren't even in the special section of the pool hall for league play.
By the time my brother and I could try to question what was going on and who to further talk to my pops was already packing up ready to leave to avoid conflict and close out the tab. So out of respect we cashed out, but here's the kicker in all this. We stayed 30 minutes after to finish our pitcher (my dad doesn't drink) and wings and we saw no "league" players claim the table or any type of structure associated with this "league" game beginning.
We could have gotten two to three more games at least in and finished up. Just a little suspect there. Maybe the game started after we left who knows but once again bad communication from the pool hall management and in the meantime the Vibe was completely ruined for us and we couldn't finish our games. We had our own tournament going ourselves.
If my pops wasn't there, we definitely would have contested what was going on and to try and remedy the situation as patrons just wanting to have a good time out. We want to come back, we all like the place, we thought we came at a good time to play,...
Read moreI was really impressed with this place. The billards tables are all in great condition. 8-foot, 9-foot & Snooker. I tried Snooker for the first time and I never realized how much more precise I need to be. I also didn't realize how much fun I had playing it. The food is really good & their prices are very reasonable. I live over 30 miles away, but I am here 2 to 5 times every week. I don't like waiting. Not for the table.... but waiting in line to reserve the table. There is often just one person at the front that not only rings up the order, puts the order in, handled balls going out to one of 32 tables, taking in the balls for people who are finished, at the same time, asking customers if they want a pitcher of beer, getting the pitcher of beer, waiting for the pitcher of beer to fill up, pour off the foam & refilling to the top, bringing it to the counter, checking to see if their order is ready. Hire another person perhaps. I met their cue tip man. I heard about this guy and that was the purpose of coming down here. He did a spot on repair & I bought a Kamui super-soft. He had 30 different tips as well as comprehensive cleaning of shafts using a myriad of sandpaper that when used with his workhorse, his incredibly balanced lathe that was designed for cue stick everything. The bottom of the shaft is in one end & is tightened down and the same for the tapered shaft to the tip, using a combination of chocks to ensure that when he tightens the chuck he is set. Watching him repair the tip was very interesting. The quality of the repair is right there in front you. He made sure before he touched my stick that I might get pushback from a manufacture, that the stick has been altered. I accepted this. Really enjoyed myself and I will...
Read moreThis is just from my perspective, so some of my opinions may not apply:
This is a serious pool hall, think of "Rocky" era pool halls of yesteryear. It's got loads of tables, a bar in the back, and is geared toward the more serious players.
The positive: Friendly staff, excellent bar, and the tables are very well kept. There's regulation pool tables in the plenty, but also snooker tables, etc. Tournaments are held here very regularly, so it's rather geared toward that audience.
The negatives: The location is "meh". Getting here is a bit rough with traffic, especially if you're coming from other areas. The building itself, old. I can tell the place used to allow smoking at one point because it still retains that smell. For me, my allergies were killing me the entire time here, to the point I just cannot go in there anymore without being messed up for a couple of days. I usually am fine with smokey bars, but this place in particular killed my sinuses. I realize again, this may not apply to everyone, but for me, I just cannot recommend this place if you have allergy problems.
Despite the negatives, many love and enjoy coming to this place to play pool, so despite my review, if the negatives I listed don't bother...
