Revival Hair Studio — Local services in Dumont

I wasn’t going to write a bad review, but then I called Revival and spoke with Amber.

Yesterday, I went in for a trim with layers and requested a long shag haircut. My hair has been hip length for over 10 years and I explicitly stated in the appointment notes and at the appointment that I wanted to keep the length as is. I was okay with losing 1-2 inches as a trim. We discussed what I wanted in-depth, and I genuinely thought we were on the same page. I knew that getting a lot of layers would mean I would see a lot of hair falling to the ground and I was doing my best to trust the process.

Once the cut was finished, I stood up and was in shock. I told her that she cut off at least 5-6 inches and she insisted she only took half an inch. My hip length hair was now above my elbows. To say that I’m devastated is an understatement. I did my best to be polite, paid, and left. I cried all the way home and for the rest of the day. My hair is in a bun, I can’t even look at it.

I called today sobbing and spoke with Amber on the phone. All she said was that she was sorry I didn’t like my hair cut. There was no empathy for my situation or remorse for completely chopping off my length. There was no apology or responsibility taken for cutting off 6 inches. She was very dry and acted like I was just wasting her time. She told me she would Zelle or Venmo me and then abruptly hung up. It’s going to take me at least a year or two to grow it back. I did receive my money back, however I’d much rather have my long hair. Never again.

I’ve attached 2 before an and 2 afters. My hair was down to my hips, and now it is above my elbows. The before photos are 3-4 years old, so it was longer when I went in yesterday. It is definitely a shag haircut, but I’m missing A LOT of length. Had I known that this much length was going to be removed, I never would...

I’ve been going to Revival for over 2 years now as a recommendation for my now 9yr old daughter. Amber just gets us. Not only does she know what we want and how to apply that but she also knows what’s best for our hair and we trust her completely. I have been a client of Revival Hair Studio for a few years now. The staff is very friendly and helpful. In particular I have been seeing Amber who I highly recommend. Never have I been so comfortable with a hairdresser. She listens to what I’m looking for in my cut/style, the color I would like my hair to be, the list goes on. I’m always excited to work with her and come up with ideas for my hair. My whole family goes to see Amber as well. She is great with children as well.
