Stop and Shop has always been famous for how clean and organized their stores are. This one is clean, Brite and airy. Nice wide isles. Plenty of walking space. The isles are matched up together so that it makes sense. The produce department is great. Very fresh a s appealing looking. The bakery will make you drool over all the yummy desserts it has. Seafood looks good plus it doesn't smell like a fish market. Meat department has some good steaks, chicken, ground beef or chicken or turkey. A good variety of options available to choose from. Frozen food is hit or miss. Sometimes it's bursting at the door it's so full. Other times it's a vast land of nothing. It does stock a nice variety of food products. Dairy isn't quite as bad. The dairy department is out of a lot things too. It does have a nice selection to choose from when everything is there. The Deli department is run pretty smoothly. The cold cuts, plus the salads are always fresh. They make a really good sub sandwich. The grocery department is pretty good. The only time it runs out of stock is when there are sales.
Stop and shop has always been more expensive than other food stores. It's not like they are selling different products. I've never understood why the huge difference in price on a lot of items. For example. Yogurt at Shoprite is a dollar. For the exact same Yogurt stop and shop wants $1.89. That's insane. I only use stop and shop as a backup because of the huge price...
Read moreI have been a customer for the past 9 years. Never had any bad experience. But today ( May, 4, 2019 at 3:03 PM) I was at lane 10 to check out. There was a cashier and a person to pack the bags. The cashier scanned my items and while packing, I noticed one of item (brioche bread) was open. I asked if I could get a replacement? The cashier turned to me and said “ you are not “ and she continued, “it wasn’t open when I scanned”. She refused to let me go back and get a replacement saying she cannot keep her counter open for me. The lane was empty and there was no one behind me. After a few back and forth conversation, with an attitude she said “ go and get a replacement once you are done paying”. I didn’t say a word. After I paid, she said to leave the cart to the side and get the replacement. I did what she asked me to do so. If you claim that you are in Dumont “helping our communities” ( printed on the receipt). show that you do please. Customer satisfaction is key in any business, unless you think otherwise. The employee’s behavior today was not acceptable at all and I urge the management to train the staff to be polite and meet the customers’...
Read moreGreat store, especially for smaller shopping trips in the Dumont area. Prices are generally more expensive than ShopRite but you can good deals when items are on sale. I like the store for convenience & good selection of products. Just check what is on sale or buy the Stop & Shop version of items which are competitively priced & are just as good or sometimes even better than the name brands. I like that there are a lot of healthier products stocked in this store (remember to always read labels to make sure something is ACTUALLY healthy lol & isn't just marketed that way).
I used this store's pharmacy years ago & always had a good experience.
This store has about 6 self check outs. This has made many trips for me very quick if the store is not busy. Remember you can get a small credit/discount (around $0.10-$0.25 per bag I think) for using your own shopping bags but you have to select that in the self check out computer BEFORE you start scanning...
