Place is great for diversity in any, such as comics and action figures as well as pops! I would only recommend NEVER to sell your BEST items here. They promote a sign saying they buy but almost to never are they opened to it. Well at least this one reoccurring guy isnāt to. Iāve been in here more than a couple times to try and sell my items. I love this store, I always go to it after a good hike, and hence since Iām 40 min out, I almost make a stop every time. Disappointed on my first try to sell and not only was I guaranteed access to come over through the phone, seconds after arriving and stepping in, the man seeing my box instantly said NO. I didnāt think much of it but maybe because he didnāt like anything I had. Before I could get anything out to say, he sticked with a disagreeing tone, after leaving and feeling repudiated, I thought Iāll try again. The second time I went in at a different time and was again refused. This time I had more things to offer both loose and in box figures. Now the final and third time, I went early morning making sure they would allow me to sell, I called ahead the day before, before making a 40 min drive. Once again, the man refused as I walked into the door. I told him I spoke to someone who told me that they were indeed buying and looking for figures. Finally, the old man decided to take a look at them, I must say I took quite a few if not roughly 8 good hard to finds and a few more to sell. After being asked how much I wanted, the man said weāre clearly from two different zip codes and refused to make a deal. I was stuck with only one firm price and as badly as I wanted to say no, I could t due to financial desperation. Regardless I was and felt treated with unfairness. Knowing as a loyal buyer and how much they would sell what I sold to them and being limited to less than 5$ per figure was truly outraging. If you guys are looking to sell, head to Dallas vintage toys, I got a wayyyy more understanding and better deal with just a few figures than I did at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the best comic shops in DFW. One of the best toy stores in DFW.
If you like comics AND toys? Duncanville Bookstore is the best spot in the area.
Comics - The new book wall is well stocked. The back issue selection is really solid and one of the biggest in DFW (I think 2nd only to Titan Comics). The back issues are nicely organized, with higher priced / key issues in their own section, plus bonus sections for discounted books, $1/$2 books, etc.
Toys - They've got at least 6 large glass cases filled with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Transformers, G.I. Joe, etc. Plus their walls are filled with even more figures. And they've got drawers full of stuff if you like doing some digging!
Collectibles - While not their main focus, they've still got a pretty good selection of statues and merch. Mostly comic-related with some anime mixed in (typically Dragon Ball related).
I'm not gonna lie - the store itself looks pretty old and busted from the outside, but don't let that dissuade you! The inside is clean, well-lit and organized. The staff has always been friendly and helpful in my experience. Whether it was my first ever visit to the store, my serious collecting streak when I was in there once a week, or my current casual collecting which only sees me in store once every 2-3 months - the staff has always made me feel welcome. I've been to some shops where you definitely feel like you don't matter much as a customer if you're not a regular, but the DBS team made me feel at home from day one.
If you're in the DFW area, they're definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped by on my way through town as I've had some online experiences with them (Both good and bad) and after treading some of these reviews I'm confident to avoid business with them. Their prices are rather high for silver age and their "discounted" section didn't make the books feel discounted but more of a marked up sticker in a discounted bin, apparently they base their prices off ebay. They have a large selection of books but you have to make sure you look in multiple areas of the store as their grouped more so discount of the book rather by the title and that was really frustrating. Customer service was poor and it made me actually put my books back and leave. The guy wasn't helpful or at least not very friendly until my wife and I were checking out as when I asked to see books in the shelf he did not seem to be amused and was rather cold that I asked to do something.
They're the only store in a short distance in SW Dallas/Ft Worth but I'll make sure to drive the extra distance to a better comic store.
Edit: apparently I've been banned from their Facebook page because I left a bad review. They tout their good reviews and punish their bad reviewers, of course blame the customer because they had a bad experience. I'll definitely make sure to avoid them now. Best of luck to this...
