Around The Corner Candy — Local services in Dundee Township

Always loved this place, but with the recent change in ownership, it has become a shadow of its former self.

The inventory is very sparse. They do not have the most popular items in stock. I thought that was after Heritage Fest, but they have still not restocked.

We used to stock up on Madeline's chocolates for birthdays and other occasions, but they never have them in stock. The store is very barren compared to the previous owners.

I really hate to see this thing go, but the current owner seems to be very conservative on stocking the most popular items which is a bit counterproductive.

Just a shame. A great store with a great history, but I think the current owner got in over their head and cannot keep up the great tradition that made this store one of the best.

Read the reply from the owner: The main thing I miss are the bags of Madeline's chocolate with the holiday themes. That plus the chocolate covered gummies (yes folks, that is a thing, and they are fantastic!). I was very happy that the Madeline's Advent Calendars were in stock, that is a yearly tradition. I love this place !!! I purposely drive out of my way to come to this shop because my experiences here have never been less than perfect. Atmosphere is very home-y & relaxed. The staff is super super super sweet & welcoming. Clare is awesome! They have a large candy selection & they have holiday/themed goodies depending on the month/time. Around the fall, they have caramel apples & they are soooo delicious - it's definitely a must have. We always end up grabbing an assortment of $1 gummy bags because we never know what to get, it gives us a variety without having to settle with just 1 large quantity of a candy.

This was my first time visiting, and unfortunately won’t be back. Looking online the pictures looked great. But inside they shelves were SO bare and vacant, I thought “they must be going out of business”. All the candy in the bins on the wall gave me the vibe that they were old since they were all down to crumbs. I picked up a bag of gummies from the shelf…. Hard as a rock.

They also pre package the candy from the bins on the wall, and put them on display. Of course the display was empty. There are literally card board boxes on display all around the store that are completely empty. It just looks really run down and lacks the character and fun energy I’d expect a candy store to have.
