Elder + Oat — Restaurant in Dundee Township

Another update: we are neither a gluten free or vegan family but have loved E&O since they opened and were sad when the previous owners sold, but under new ownership somehow everything has just improved. The donuts/baked goods are incredible. They just taste different, and they have expanded flavors and variety (Thanks BIDA!). They are offering more specialty drinks (including matcha, cold foam and seasonal varieties). Seating both inside and outside has expanded. The game area is now offering “free books.” I love that they continue to be an inclusive and welcoming place and that you’ll still see the same familiar faces behind the counter (Peter, Melanie and Sol). We always look forward to story time for kids that’s offered once a month. I hope they continue to grow!

Editing my original review to say that bringing focaccia to work events is now my thing. My coworkers BEG me to bring this bread (and pesto) to every little potluck, lunch, celebration we have. I now even get requests to pick up a loaf for coworkers who don't live nearby. It is the best!

I’ve tried the chai sunrise (their version of a dirty chai), elder and oat latte and a plain ol iced coffee and have loved them all! The donuts are really good (don’t let the word vegan scare you) and the focaccia, oh my god the focaccia…. It’s amazing. If you get a savory focaccia you have to try their pesto! Their offerings are seasonal and change weekly. Im excited to see what they come up with through the fall and winter! I love you Elder + Oat, please...

We hired Elder & Oat for our wedding and they were beyond amazing throughout the entire process. We stopped by to check their donuts for a possible late-night snack and ended up hiring them for cocktail hour charcuterie boards, donut dessert table AND wedding cake! We worked with Brad, one of the co-owners, and we couldn't have been more impressed with how great it was to work with him. He told us what Elder & Oat is all about, introduced us to all the amazing pastries and drinks they offer, and gave the perfect suggestions based on our needs. We even asked them to make special beignets for the bride and if they could do our wedding cake with limited directions and the bakers did such an incredible job with both. The day of the wedding, while delivering the dozens of delicious donuts, they worked to make sure the day and decorations were perfect. Everything from taste to presentation was beyond what we could have hoped for from any vendor. Finally, after the day was over, we realized how many compliments we received. We reached out to Brad and the other owners about the praise and they expressed how much work they put into our special requests. It showed how important they saw our special day and it was "the cherry on top" for us for the whole event. We wish we lived in the area to give them more business and praise because they are the real deal: incredible food, incredible people,...

We hired Elder & Oat to cater donuts for our October wedding, and to cater lunches for our bridal party while we were getting ready before the big event. The lunch boxes were amazing, and I think their focaccia is some of the best I’ve ever had- it’s tart like a sourdough with big flaky salt and little pockets of olive oil, and their tomato dipping sauce was tangy and fresh. Not to mention, having this delivered to our hotel while getting ready made the day such a breeze.

The donuts were a big hit with our guests! We definitely overestimated the number of donuts we needed, but guests snagged one for the road, and we took the remainder back to the hotel to share with our friends in the hotel lobby the next morning. We are big cider donut fans, and always knew we wanted apple cider donuts as our main wedding dessert instead of cake. When I tell you these are one of the best cider donuts I’ve ever had, not to mention they are gluten free (seems like magic)- they are a little bit salty, full of warm spices and covered with the absolute right amount of sugar. Some of our guests had never tasted a cider donut before, and I think they’re now completely ruined to the standard variety after tasting Elder & Oat’s take.

E&O also has fabulous coffee- we stopped by a few weeks before our event for a latte, and everything was delicious. Can’t recommend them...
