This shop is generally good for buyers of used wares, bad for consignors or buyers of new wares. Their general strategy is to push a consignor to price their wares based on a rather outdated blue book of guns and then refuse to vet current market values. This is such that they can maintain any inventory that makes it worth looking at the shop at all. Apart from this, there is no competitive advantage to speak of save for a generally competent archery department.
Prices on new wares are generally not competitive versus online, a problem that this small outfit will "solve" by kicking and screaming out it as if that makes them entitled to more of your money. They'll throw a few extra bucks onto 4473 costs and cry when asked about this that "oh it's so hard out here for a small business" while happily passing the burden onto the customer, for whom it is also hard out here. Not the classiest.
Unfortunately, the classlessness continues; frequent buyers are disparagingly referred to by employees behind closed doors as "gun [naughty oldest profession word not suitable for google reviews wowee]" when those are probably the charitable folks allowing them to exist.
In short, if you must shop here, exploit the folks that these folks exploit to get solid deals on used wares. Do not consign with them if you want your money's worth (everywhere in town has the same 15%ish consignment rate at the time of this posting, you'll get overpaying tacticool gang at Colorado Gunfighter, overpaying bourgeoise Telluride/touristy hunting gang at Gardenswartz, and low buying foot traffic but the ability to set the price you actually want at KP Pawn). Do not transfer with Goods for The Woods as they will bump various fees versus their local peers, and most of all don't expect genuine respect.
That's more or less the only fruitful way to engage with this shop. To do so in any other manner...
Read moreSpend ur money at CO gun fighter or online not this overpriced rude store who treats long time customers like garbage! , I have been a long time customer and spent thousands! Not anymore! The owner was so rude and unprofessional yesterday to me and my girlfriend looking for her first gun! We asked if they have any deals going on (we had taken advantage of them in the past) and she very rudely went on and on about how she don’t care if we want a deal, and how everything in the world is expensive! She kept going! I told her “it’s okay I thank u for the deals in the past) she continued to be very rude! Sayin “I don’t know why I would have givin u a deal on any gun Im not giving away guns!” VERY RUDE! then we asked about how to have guns sent from online to her store, she VERY RUDE said “ well obviously you’d have to ask me for my information first!” VERY RUDELY!!… then while checking out she was telling the customer next to us “ I don’t know why ppl would think I’m giving any deals, u I should be rewarded for my work”AGAIN VERY RUDELY!! … what kind of owner degrades a customer who simply asked about “sales” to another customer, right in front of them at the register!!! I have filed a report on her to the BBB as well. I will spread the word by mouth as well to all my business associates and friends, shop at gun fighter or better yet just have the same guns she has overpriced sent from the internet to her store for cheaper than she offers! That’ll teach her!… lastly I bought a rifle from her that would not fire! She refused to help me with it and blaimed it on the mag! N made me buy another one from her! I ended up paying out of pocket to have a gun smith get the gun firing by machining an internal...
Read moreI was elk hunting in the area and took a spill in the mountains that rendered my bow inoperable. The only bow shop within 100 miles was Goods for the Woods in Durango. I took my bow in hoping the string could be popped back on the cam but knowing good and well the bow could need new parts that were likely not in stock. If a new part was needed, my only options would have been to end my hunt early or buy a new/used bow from Goods for the Woods. Although my bow only needed a quick adjustment, the bow technician could have deviously recommended that I buy a new bow. However, he was honest with me and indicated only a slight tweak was needed to correct my bow that took only a few minutes. There were no parts needed and the tech only asked for $5 for the time on the vice. I ended up giving him a $20 and thanked him a handful of times for saving my hunt...
