My visit today was the worst experience I've ever had with Zia Taqueria. I had just got back into town from a long hike and possibly not looking as polished as I normally do when I'm out enjoying town. This means I had no makeup on, probably dressed in clothes less favorable, and more of my male characteristics stood out. "Bro" they used often when speaking to me. When i first entered to females were speaking in spanish talking about a customer in unfavorable terms. If I didnt speak Spanish it could have seem like normal work conversation. I ordered the Super Nacho Libre, normal stuff but as meat goes, I was told is one scoop and it cost extra for more meat. I know what I was served because I watch the girl pinch the meat portion and gave me half the spoon size. When I asked about it, the guy expressed anger and told me more meat cost extra. I did not wish to argue so allowed it. At this point I felt they were trying to rush me out. I also ordered a drink, the wrong drink was poured and when I corrected them the large male, which I took for management appeared angry and prepared the correct one. And when he finished it and handled it to me, I couldn't help but feel him trying to intimate me by looking angrily at me as I grabbed my meal and drink and left. The store was empty besides one table. When I was leaving more people flooded in. I did not eat my meal because I felt so disappointed. My suggestion is to the other Zia on North main treats guests as they should, paying customers. Maybe I was passed off as a hobo or someone who couldn't afford there service, I'm not sure. The only tip I should have left was maybe treat everyone equally no matter how he...
Read morePopped in here with the grandkids for a bite to eat while visiting Durango in June. The place was very busy, and smelled like something yummy was cooking! It's not a traditional sit-down and someone will take your order place. You're able to see all the deliciousness as you walk through and pick out what you want. As usual I got the nachos, and they were scrumptious! The chips were freshly made, and were light and crispy with just a hint of salt! Sometimes chips can be so overpoweringly salty as to be gross. Not these! The chicken was well cooked and flavorful, and the black beans, cilantro, white rice, and pico de gallo were basically perfect. The grandkids ordered from the children's menu, choosing a chicken burrito and cheese nachos. We also got a carne asada burrito to take to my daughter as she was working. I did not get a picture of it but she raved about it, saying it was in the top three carne asada burritos she'd ever eaten in her life. There were lots of choices for drink and we had fun mixing our flavors and tasting each one.
The staff was friendly and professional while the restrooms were spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the restaurant.
We enjoyed people watching while they maintained a steady stream of customers.
The next time I am in Durango I will make a beeline for Zia Taqueria, just off the highway location. They also have a restaurant in historic downtown so you have two options to zip in and zip out on...
Read moreRecieved about 2/3 of a full portion in my bowl. I eat here very frequently so im no just having w bad day haha. The south location oficially is on my sucks list, closing the doors before 9? Maybe update ur times to 9.30 then? its not even a true restaurant its closer to fast food, stay open until 9pm like your website states. I also found a small hair in my food, things happen i get it, gave 2 stars cuz its very underportioned and barely has sauce. id pick the north location 11 times out of 10 compared to south zia. Some of the younger employees are really great and awesome customer service( yall should transfer to the north location and get tipped more) The older guys at the front of the food line werent inviting or nice. When any customer walks in hungry, its hard to get a bad review with good food and service!( as i heard one of the guys im mentioning was a manager)use that to help ur business. The blonde cashier is very friendly and so is the gentleman trent or tyler, im blanking his name(awesome younger dude), or id make the service 1 star not 4. They got yall the extra stars so appreciate them. My money will go to the north location until South Zia are to the same standards of the North Zia! Ill try yall in a month, ill update my review if things are...
