If you want to see bad service, go to Macy's at Southpoint. Something is wrong with the management here, because every employee I encountered could care less to be there or truly help. Macy's was my last stop after shopping at Nordstrom, Belk & JC Penny's for linen pants & shirts. I actually had pretty good experiences at the previous 3 stores with multiple employees who asked if they could help, they personally walked or had someone take me to the right sections and explain the differences, sales, etc. I even had good small talk with a couple of them. While I was behind another customer checking out at Belk another employee even stopped to ring me up as she was walking out to leave for the day. Now fast forward to Macy's. I knew the mall was closing in 25 mins (7pm) so I was walking around quickly. I see a lady closing the front doors to the store at 6:40 because as she was closing them the voice on the intercom said the store was closing in 20 mins. A few mins later I asked a woman if there were any other linen pant options and she didn't know, but also didn't leave her desk to help. So I tried on the pants and shirts that I had. As I was redressing into my clothes, a guy says to me in the dressing room "We're closing", rather than 'Can I help you get anything' or 'How are those clothes working out for you'? I checked my phone and there was still 10 mins until the store closed. I immediately went to checkout at the only register that wasn't being cleared for the evening. There was someone checking out in front of me, but then when it was my turn the 1st thing the employee said to me was "You almost didn't make it". I said, "There's still 5 mins until you close". He said, "I know, but we gotta go". Within seconds of handing me the receipt, someone shut off the lights to the store (keep in mind there was probably 2-3 minutes till 7pm). As I went to walk out, the same lady who closed the doors was waiting for me and other customers to leave. As I walked up, she didn't look at me and just said "Down here". So I walked down to the other side and she just opened the door and turned her head 90 degrees so she wouldn't have to look at me or something. I said "Thanks", she didn't respond. Basically it was just a weird experience. No one was mean, but everyone acted like I was an issue rather than a customer and they didn't like working there. To get to my car, I had to walk to the other end of the mall. I didn't see 1 major store with their doors closed; Nordstrom, JC Penny's or Belk. Belk was actually still letting customers come in to shop - they were checking out...
Read moreI am reluctant to give one star. Shopped at this location on Mother's Day, decided to treat myself to some much needed lingerie. Dressing rooms were dark and messy. No one was working in the department to answer questions or help in any way. I finally decided on some items and proceeded to find a check out. I walked all over the upper level and found one with a very long line. I went downstairs, found a few more open but all had long lines. I picked one and waited. There were two women behind the counter, one was checking folks out and the other appeared to maybe be training but the lines were so long, I was surprised that she could not open the other register and help check folks out. While waiting, a couple of people came up to ask where the dressing room was and the attendant doing the "so called training" was rude, short, and vague. The person in front of me was taking a very long time so the women, supposedly training, or folding clothes, not sure what her job was really, told us we could go to customer service and get checked out faster. Two of us expressed that it took forever to find an open register so we stayed put. We expressed exasperation at having been told we should have gone to customer service. So, when you need to check out in this Macy's you should go to the customer service counter??? Finally it was my turn, none of the items I picked rang up on sale, they were supposed to be 20% off during the Mother's Day sale. I asked about this, oh and the training/folding clothes person was now checking customers out, the other attendant disappeared, and she said she could not help me and that I would have to go to customer service after all. I was so upset and disgusted. I left the items and proceeded to go find "customer service". I was crying and very upset that I had wasted my day, it was supposed to be my Mother's Day outing. I wanted to speak to a manager. I had to ask for help to find the counter and when I did, there was again, a long line and what appeared to be a teenage girl working the counter. At that point I gave up in defeat. I have a Macy's card but I am going to cancel the account asap. I am still in shock that this happened. If this Macy's is struggling to hire help, maybe they should just shut down. Ruined my...
Read moreI'm not one to post in regards to experience, however I feel it's necessary to post about this one. My husband and I are Macy's members, we shop at Macy's regularly, and we registered with Macy's for our wedding. We normally shop at the Macy's in Crabtree, where we have always had a good experience. We were in Durham yesterday and my husband needed a suit. We went to Macy's to the suiting department, two employees were present, neither one of them greeted us. We decided to walk towards the front and pick out a suit on our own. After picking a suit, we return to the suiting area to the check out line, where the two employees were holding a conversation, we wait there for a two minutes, and finally my husband says "hello". The associate Steven says to Richard "is that you?" and Richard says "no" so Steven walks over to ring us up. He doesn't say hello, doesn't even speak to us. Takes the suit rings us up, and says "Richard will give you your suit" and walks off. Richard comes over and passes my husband the suit, no thank you for shopping with us, nothing. I say to Richard, "well thank you". We walk down to Express, where we receive excellent service and purchase a suit that is twice the price. We go back to Macy's to return the suit. We get back in the SAME line, where Steven takes two different customers behind us and completely ignores the fact that we are standing in line. At that point, I got a manager involved and that was that. Overall, I'm highly disappointed with the lack of service we received. I know we looked young and weren't not dressed up, but I'm sad to see we are still basing the customer service...
