North Duke Mall has been an ever-changing Durham landmark for my entire life. The stores never stay exactly the same and neither does anything else around it. Likewise, that roses has staying power and has been there forever (awesome people work there btw!)
Things I like:
1.) Half the stores are locally owned small businesses that a busted their tails to create a niche. None of them had trust funds for vanity projects either.
2.) Roses: Guys, they are honestly cheaper to shop at then Walmart or Target. they don't have the same selection of good electronics, but if you just need some things for your bathroom, pop by here. some of the employees have been there a while and I like that they seem to take care of their people somewhat.
3.) There is an abundance of local fast food. You can just go to this region and decide.
4.) Just drive around it, you'll always find something interesting.
Things I don't like:
1.) Staples: only shop for your office supplies here if you are in a Brewster's Millions or Lotto Winner situation.

Another one of my shopping spots you don't visit unless you have extra hours for browsing. The Sales Associates are still very helpful in assisting with great confidence and thoughtful ideas. The Sales Associates are on top of aiding you. There was a new cashier, (Sharon, recently moved from New York/Jersey area), very pleasant and made one feel as if she enjoyed her position. Had A Banner Day at Roses Discount Department Store. Make it a point to visit if you are...
Read moreThis strip mall has been in Durham for over 50 years. Some businesses have made it that long most have not. Stores and restaurants always changing. ALOT of shady people walk around asking for money and food, very very sad. I know that's a lot of places here lately. Just be careful ladies if you are alone or with your kids around there. That Roses is one the businesses that's survived over the years and it's always got great prices on things. Dollar Tree always crowded but well...
