Oh boy, I don't want to seem overly critical of a dying establishment, so I will list the positive things first: Huge selection of retro games, movies, accessories, card games, collectables new and used. I guess that's what they're known for anyways, but they have it. Staff was attentive, engaging and friendly and understandably overwhelmed by the vast variety of genres and generations of items. You just can't expect one person to be knowledgeable about all the details of new and old specific entertainment so for what the staff is capable of was good. The first negative thing was that I was trading in a Switch and in my personal opinion it was in excellent condition if not mint, I initially just wanted to see how much money or store credit I could get for the switch but the employee formatted the console while they were looking at it before they even told me how much I could get. So even if I didn't want to take the trade for the money or store credit my data had been erased already and then I was offered a disappointing amount of money or store credit for it.. That was also expected somewhat since they have to make money on trades. I traded my Switch to get a PS3 that was sealed in plastic wrap so I could barely see the real condition of the console until I purchased it, and it was in poor condition when I did take the plastic off. It works, except for the disc door. It had dirt, dust and grime that could have been wiped off before it was sealed in plastic. And when I was going to purchase the PS3 the workers could not find a Sony brand controller that is supposed to come with the console when purchasing so they had to resort to giving me a new generic controller which they had to open the box and put in the console bag. . Which I was fine with except for the controller didn't come with a charging cord and they forgot to take the dongle out of the box of the new controller so I couldn't pair with the console and now I have a controller that I can't use for anything. That was an oversight that shouldn't have happened, but thankfully I had a PS5 controller to connect to the PS3. I felt most disappointed because I traded in a console that is 5 years old and in good condition at the very least with controllers and I was given a 10 year old console with no controller really that was in very poor condition. My overall experience feels like I was hustled and almost cheated, which I feel like is encouraged to make sales. You can definitely exchange at game x change, but you might be on the losing end of...
Read moreMy son and I have gone to this location several times over the past few years to browse for games, Funkos, and other assorted pop culture items.
They have a broad and diverse selection of games to buy, everything from Playstation and Xbox to original NES cartridges and Nintendo Switch games.
If you're looking for Funko Pop collectibles, they have a ton. There's a full aisle filled with a rack of Funko boxes that are stacked two deep. I actually just picked up a used Funko that I've been searching the area for quite a while. Even though I bought it used, it was reasonably priced ($12.99) and in great condition.
If you have old gaming equipment you want to unload, this place is definitely an option. You can sell controllers, consoles, and just about every other accessory you can think of.
It may not be on par with a place like GameStop but it stands up as a worthwhile alternative when looking for games or other pop culture collectibles.
Whether you live close by, are passing through the area, or you're looking for a place to find something you haven't found elsewhere, I'd definitely recommend checking out this location of...
Read moreI haven't seen a Gamexchange in years. The Dyersburg store looks good, there is a problem. There is one lady who works there, who's customer service is absolutely atrocious. She is short with brown hair. I Walked in, and saw her working on something behind the counter. I was finally acknowledged about 5 minutes later by another employee.
Went in another time around 8:40 pm. I knew they closed at 9. Walked in and was greeted with "we close at 9!". The other lady working there greeted me and was very nice and helpful. The shirt lady even greeted the other customer who came in after me with "We close in 10 minutes!".
She made the experience feel Iike I...
